Default Asking for trouble to run Nitrous on top of my current setup?

This will be my setup for 2011:

2000 TA 68k miles stock bottom end
TFS 215 CNC cyl heads 58cc
231/237 cam ( possibly going larger, will explain below)
FAST 90/90
pacesetters, ORY, borla
42lb injectors/racetronix pump etc

I have to check PTV, i am pretty sure i will have to fly cut. If by some miracle i dont have to, i will keep my current cam. If i do have to cut the pistons, i am going to go with a larger cam (prob 23x/24x range)

I would like to hit this with a 100 shot, but some people have expressed concerns about spraying with fly cut pistons. Even with the relief cuts, wouldnt the ring lands still be the weakest link? Flycutting aside, would the car make too much power with the 100 shot for the stock bottom end to handle reliabley? Would i be better off with say, a 50 shot?

Opinions, advice etc are appreciated!

You'll be fine with that little shot... Make sure the tuneup is ok and relieve any sharp edges caused by flycutting to avoid creating hot spots on the piston.

Btw... I like the wide split on that cam for the bottle... It won't matter much for that small of a shot, but WHEN you pill it up the added exhaust duration will be beneficial.

Thanks, yeah i sprayed the car before cam only with a 100 shot. I was able to run 11.58 @ 127 mph so it def seemed to like the bottle at least the trap speed says so . I would love to hit a 130 trap with the added flow and compression of the TFS heads and the 250ish lbs i removed this winter.

If the tune is on you won't have any problem running 130... Seems conservative.

You shouldnt have to fly cut the pistons. I just put a ms3 cam 237/242 in a vette stock ls1 with texas speed 5.3 heads. With no issues. I would look at that cam it makes alot of power with spray and na.

His heads are milled alot and even if they weren't he should check anyway. Texas Speed will sometimes sink the valve seats to gain some PTV with stock bottom end guys running cams like that. I doubt TFS did this unless he asked for it (though those castings may move the valves around some).

CHECK PTV...

MS3 has treated alot of people right! It would probably work well if he sticks with his current plan of only spraying 100

I just swapped out my 224 for a 236/240 601/608 113+3. I've got stock heads and stock 140k bottom end and spray a 150 wet hit. Ive had no issues so far and didn't need to flycut either. I trapped 125 before the swap and also looking for a higher trap. 128 or better.

I have a ms3 and 243 heads and was thinking about doing the same small 100-150 shot. Let me know how you do.

In the Jan GM High Tech a younger guy with a Camaro, Stock Bottom End, Stock 241s MS3 200 Shot, car goes mid 9s. It is a TH400 with a good converter but Im sure its had more than a few bottles through it! Im sure your motor will be fine! Im thinking about adding a bottle to my heap because a blower is way to deep in my wallet!
