Bottle blowing up

Bottle blowing up Has anyone heard of a bottle blowing up? A friend of mine was trying to sway me from going to NOS (probably 'cause he has a procharger), because he said he's heard of the bottles blowing up.

Yeah, the blow off (safety) valve is hooked to the blow down tube (or vice versa), so that if the relief valve blows the nitrous will be directed down the blow down tube and outside of the car, and not just disperse the gas and fill up the car.
It should blow at 3000 psi.

Re: Bottle blowing up That schmuck that blew his Nissan apart because of a bottle blowing up was an idiot. He defeated the "safety" valve AFTER it blew once for a problem. If I remember right he then plugged it with copper, thus no more safety valve, couple that with a dumb move on the bottle heater and kiss your car good bye.
The dump tube and attached safety valve are there to prevent such incidents. A nitrous bottle is a compressed gas cyclinder and all applicable safety practices should be followed.

Re: Bottle blowing up there's a classic webpage wherein somebody left the bottle heater on overnight in their Nissan 4-door and the bottle exploded and took out a good chunk of the garage. Needless to say, the car was pretty much toast...
