Default Nitrous why you should use it!

Well I am not happy with this 5177 dry nitrous kit at all! I think I am going to throw it in the trash !!

We went to the track last night and tested on a ramp controlled 125 HP shot leaving at 50% from the line. Came out with my new best 60 foot and almost tied within one hundredth of a second my best 1/8 mile run using a full 125 HP shot from the launch.

The big difference is until last night my best effort was in -600 DA and last night the DA was somewhere above +1,500!

Here is the breakdown of the slip – 60 foot 1.279, ET 6.276, MPH 111.175 not bad at all for outdated equipment on a little 346 CI LS!!

Thanks! I will be doing that on my next outing.

I wanted to see if we could get the car in the 20's at the local 1/8 mile track that we go to on a 125 HP shot controlled since my best was in the mid 30's there last year. If it will run in the 20's there on TNT night leaving at only 50% flat lined for a few hundredths and then ramped to 100% taking over a second the Fromy should be in the teens on a prepped track with all slick cars running on it. Not saying the track was not working off the line because as I have already stated I now have a new best 60 foot of 1.279 and it felt good riding this 3,320 lb Formy out of the gate on that run! Since it was Friday the 13th I decided to be very happy with the results and head home for the night.

I will be changing the plugs to a colder plug and seeing what this little old 346 engine can do! There is no doubt the car and drive train combo is working very well. I have a few more adjustments to make and it will be ready. If we see could results which I believe we will I thinking about getting bold and adding a second stage of nitrous. Well if you call a 250 HP shot of nitrous bold! Carter01 has already gone way past that with his stock long block!!

I do not want to get to crazy and end up having to carrying 6 nitrous bottles with me when I go racing. One extra 15 lb bottle is good for now!

i pretty much had my 125 shot dialed in right. Sometimes it would hit hard and sometimes not even at 900-950 bottle pressure. Ive gone to a wet now and as long as the bottle pressure is there its the same pretty much every time.

On the dry shot it would hit hard sometimes and sometimes it would be a soft hit. With the same bottle pressure and same A/F. On the wet system it hits hard everytime and is consistant in the way it feel as it accelerates. Plus most companies on WET systems when they say 125hp jetting its usually rates at the wheels the dry systems are not rated at the wheels.

Carter01 how many bottles do you take with you to the track?

I have a 15lb bottle now, but I am going to need at least another 15lb bottle at the minimum and maybe another 10lb bottle also.

I have 2 10 lb bottles and usually can make 4 hits on the 300 shot and still be consistent. If I'm trying something really different and need to make several passes i will borrow one.

Also try filling them to 9lbs instead of 10lbs. It will help with consistency.

I have never had that problem on a dry shot you must have been having problems with your solenoids. The problem I have is keeping the car down. So that makes me feel even better 1.27 60 foot and a 6.27 on a 107 HP shot to the wheels I like it for sure!

I am working on a game plan, you have given me much inspiration seeing how well you have been able to move your car down the track!

Thanks for the filling tip! I had heard that before somewhere also that overfilling them really won't do anything but hurt your bottle pressure consistency.

I think I am going to try and stick with 15lb bottles, but at this point it's whatever deal I can find!

N2racing your car is running really good! Now up that shot!

I went back and looked over the time slips and it appears the nitrous runs are pretty consistent. The only problem was my shifting since it was my first outing I was having problems getting my shifts points correct.

1.366/6.395/110.523 – Bumped limiter on 1-2 shift
1.338/6.378/109.686 – Early on my 2-3 shift
1.311/6.365/110.674 – Very late on 1-2 shift
1.347/6.315/111.167 - Hit both shifts perfect

Changed controller setting and gave it one more try.

1.279 /6.276/111.175 – Hit both shifts perfect again and gained a new best.

All runs occurred in less than a 1 hour time slot. The results from nitrous and why you should use it that is as long as you can shift correctly !
