Default A4 guys need some feedback!!!!

I am going to push somewhere between a 150 and 200 shot to my 2001 A4 z28. My question is what is the best way to get the tranny to shift without hitting the rev limiter on the juice? The car will be mostly stock this year besides the exhaust and SY3500 converter. I've been told that a shift kit and a programmer is all I need. What are you guys using???

Window switch will help save the tranny.Set the off limit right before the programmed shift.

The MSD window switch will save the trans but a 150 or 200 shot on a stock car?! That engine won't last very long at all if you do that.

I'm basing it on the fact I've seen too many posts & seen it happen where people have run 150+ shots without upgrading fuel pumps, injectors, etc & blowing up their engine. That's what I see. But if you're running a 200 shot have fun!

I'd prefer that folks state whether their comments are based on personal experience or what they have heard or seen.

I see folks post that spraying thru shifts is bad, I'm not sure why, is it the heat or the stress on the clutches or what?

seems the tranny really does not like to shift at WOT on nitrous...too much TQ I suppose. the 2-3 shift is the worst.

I would also make somewhat of a guess that the RPMs go so fast that the tranny hesitates alot on nitrous therefore not wanting to shift when you want it to.

I know even on an 85 shot my stock tranny did not want to shift on the 2-3

Get a shift kit and a programmer to bump the limiter and you will be fine. I will be running a window switch for the first time ever-I don't like the idea of a plastic intake and a low-rpm burp. Those with lazy shifts on the juice-shift kit installed? Trans-go/b&m? My lt1 a4 car used to bounce off of the limiter b/c of lazy shifts and n20 w/ the stock tranny-after shift kit it was fine. Put the inline pump on the car and go out and have fun-tranny is under warranty, so spray the snot out of it and we'll pull the converter out before you take it to the dealer

Stu wasn't second guessing you (if u were wondering) just wanted to see what the rest of the guys around are running. Surely there has to be a few different methods being used. I am aware of what needs to be done to keep the motor as safe as possible, thats not what I posted this for. I am well aware of the controversy of going over a 150 shot. I am more concerned with the tranny shifting. I definitaly want to spray through the shifts. I know there has to be a few of you doing this. Just want to know what your setup is?

I didn't think you were second guessing me-just giving some feedback. Definitly wouldn't spray through the shifts though, it might damage your ET substantially

Sorry OT, but nice to see some St. Louis guys on here. I just moved up here the end of Dec. and am enjoying it so far. I'm just a poser right now, had to sell my 95 6-spd. TA and am waiting till I get my degree this summer to buy another one. I would like to talk to some of you guys though about the area and gateway, also like to meet some of ya and admire your rides. I live off of Gravois, just a shot down 270 from ya. Drop me a line and maybe I can meet some of you sometime. Thanks, Mark Mayhew
Can't wait till this summer!

Exactly what are you basing this statement on? Not to sound short, but I'm kinda tired of hearing people assume that running more than a 150 on a motor = blown motor. I have a 200 shot on the car right now, and I've never had a valve cover off. I'm using a progressive controller, and keeping a close eye on the 02's. So far everything is cool. Don't assue something can't be done just because everyone isn't doing it....

Now, as far as the tranny, I've broken 3 "pro-4L60E's". Be Careful!
