Can i run a 250 shot??STOCK MOTOR!
would i be able to run a 250 shot on my almost stock TA.. i wouldn't use it alot.. but would it be way to hard on the motor? if i go with nitrous over the super charger i wana be able to gain more power thro it.. i don't think nitruos would be worth it for a 100 shot or less.. like they say GO BIG OR GO HOME! so help me out here..Thanx

more like GO BIG AND WALK HOME.
all kidding aside. a 250 shot is more than id want in my plastic intake, much less on my glass bottom end.

Re: Can i run a 250 shot??STOCK MOTOR!
TravWS6,
I sincerely think anything more than a 150 shot (wet or dry) is a bad idea on a stock motor. If you supercharge your engine anything over 6 psi, you should drop your Compression Ratio. Somewhere around 9.1:1 is usually what the big boys run with 12-15 psi blowers. The stock LS1 is 10.1:1 CR I believe. Your average 6 psi blower should give you a 150 HP increase.
Like I said, if you go much more than 6 psi, personally I would lower the CR.
If you run more than a 150 HP Shot of N20 I would upgrade you internals. Both a blower and N02 puts alot of pressure on the crank and mains.
For instance I am currently having built a 383 LT4. I has 4 bolt Splayn Caps,Lunati 4340 Forged Steel Crank,Rod, and Pistons, etc. I plan on a 200 Wet Shot. Would I try such a thing on a stock LT1 or LS1? My answer is NO!
I hope this helps, I would hate to see you blow such a beautiful and costly motor.
Good Luck

I just smoked #6 piston with a 175 shot. Two stage nx kit fuel system beefed up and the fp gauge didn't drop below 55 psi. Burnt the tip off and now has wrisy pin knock.

Re: Can i run a 250 shot??STOCK MOTOR!
A 250 shot would be a quick death for a stock LS1 motor. I'd be hesitant to use a wet shot over 150 without doing some upgrades. NOS doesn't really recommend using more than a 100 shot with this dry kit.
Andy: The 6# LS1 and LT1 superchargers will usually show a 100-110hp gain while the 8-9# kits will produce about 140-150hp. The LS1 motor can easily take 9-10# of boost. The compression should be lowered for anything higher than that. I run 17# with the ATI F1 kit on an LS1. That motor has 8.9:1 compression.

If you are wanting the whole "Go big or go home" thing going for you just do a two stage wet kit on the car. You could get a sweet direct port setup for less than a blower setup and still have the same "ahhh" factor as a blower

does anyone else remember 99RedHawk
300 shot on a stock bottom end...lived on the dyno (made some sick hp...something like 700+ if I recall) then grenaded at the track...pistons were VAPORIZED haha

Re: Can i run a 250 shot??STOCK MOTOR!
I would do it. I sprayed a 50hp shot of nitrous on a stock (bottom end 302 with hype pistons)with 14# boost. Car ran fine. I am sure a 350 can handle it. Dont be scared. Just remember if you don't have a separate fuel system for the nitrous (hope it is a wet kit) you will run fat because the FMU brings the fuel pressure up as the boost goes up. Systems are calibrated with the fuel pressure going up but not as much as the FMU takes it. Good luck....
Just don't be scared. Lower the boost as you get more comfortable with the nos. A 50hp will give you more like a 75+hp gain on a supercharged motor.

Re: Can i run a 250 shot??STOCK MOTOR!
dude, i'm running a 200 shot on a stock bottom end.my best time has been 11.4 on just the bottle.i dont know about 250,but i'm gonna get a cam with some killer duration and run the 250.i still got warranty so i'm ok.by the way, if you are gonna run above 150, go direct port.i got a ls1 pro-pirrana kit from NX,it has not given me any problems.just make sure your A/F ratio does'nt go lean.from what i understand,ls1 bottom ends are pretty strong because they have a 6 bolt main, the only limiting factor i can think of is the pistons.i'll let everyone know how the 250s work out.

Back in 1999, us Chitowners workd on Hacker Joe's car a lot, a stock weight 98Z with purple flames.
Car went 11.4 on 150 NX wet shot.
We added an inline pump, and a 75-100 dry 2nd stage, and it went 11.11@127 right off the highway.
Next time it went 10.89@124mph with some changes to the nozzle placement.
We ran good gas and some race plugs.
Motor lasted about 20 passes but the block got cracked from not running good enuff gas (not enuff octane.
Car was the first LS1 F-Body in the 10's back in the fall of 1999, we beat everybody including MTI.
The day it went 10.89 he drove it to and from the track.

Re: Can i run a 250 shot??STOCK MOTOR!
I thaught someone took a Silver z28 and upgraded the fuel system and sprayed a 300 on it and went well into the 10's. I have been to a website on it before I think. If I remeber correctly the car had Bogart wheels on it. They claimed it was a stock car.
