Is it 9's worthy? Nitrous setup
So ive been messing with my project car for monthssss. Changed plans from turbo build, to cam only build, now I have finaly pulled tge trigger and not changing and doing a nitrous setup for now. Here is mysetup, let me know what u guys think of it, what I shoukd change and is 9's even realistic
Specs:
2900lbs (rx7 *with me in it*)
10 gal fuel cell
044 pump
Th400 rmv, trans brake etc. (rossler t2)
4000 rpm nitrous converter (dont have yet)
Ford 8.8. 3:55 gears, 35 spline, spool, narrowed etc.. (tri 4 link)
strang coilovers 110lb springs
Lq4 shortblock stock
arp rodbolts
317heads ported, dual springs
9.5-9.8 compression
1 3/4 long tubes
hardened push rods
trunion upgrade
TSP ls6 ported blueprinted oil pump
Cam (not sure yet still need to buy one)
Holley hp efi computer
150 wet nozzle kit
275/60/15 tires m/t drag radials
Hoping to be close to 400 n/a (380-390) and hit a touch over 500 on spray (510-15)

You are leaving an easy 3-4mph on the table with that mild compression....
Miles better with 11.25:1 or more compression.
When you spray spend the extra dough and run some 100+ octane fuel for safety barrier.
Use this calculator to see if those gears are optimal.

After paying a local tuner $600 to tune an n/a LS2/LS3 top end combo and him taking 1.75hrs total...... I bought a Holley HP EFI myself for my LS7 RX-7 to never be at the mercy of a tuner again. fawk that BS.

your compression is fine... i was doing some reading and higher compression doesnt "use" as much of the nitrous as you shovel in. the lower compression will use more of it... but if in doubt.. put in bigger pills!!

a nitrous motor still has to draw air in therefore yes he is leaving a lot left on the table with low compression, because we dont have air being forced in we need to move as much air in and out as possible therefore we nitrous guys need more compression, and there is more to it than just compression.

Over the years nitrous engines have gone up and down with compression. For awhile low was the big thing, then huge, now it's kinda leveled off.. If you have the right cam for your application you will go into the 9's fairly easily with competent tuning. Is the compression *optimum*, I would say no.. To go 9's at 2700lbs, I think it's more than adequate.
I'd like to see what the motor I built for WhiteLTone would do at 2700lbs.
