Default 2 kits on a 5.3

Anybody ever sprayed their 5.3 with 2 kits. my plan is to leave on 200 and bring in another 100 once the car is rolling, (not spinning or pulling a huge wheelie). any input is appreciated. engine is a lm7 with cnc ported 243's and a .600 lift hydraulic roller with a 114 lobe seperation from comp cams in a 87 mustang with a th350 trans

Hope you have a GREAT tune. Any reason to not bring on the smaller shot out of the hole first so you dont have so much spin? I sprayed a 150 shot on my 5.3 and didnt have any problem ran a few bottles through it...

I have a close friend who has been tuning my dads mustang, "grudge car" for a couple years now and has a tuning business deal in the works now and will be tuning it on the dyno for motor 1 & then both kits. All by laptop. And the bigger shot out of the hole is because most races are won in the first 60-300 feet so i need to get the car moving. I more worried about the car pulling a big wheelie over tire spin. All team z rear suspension, as well as front. Dave should be able to get the car to work perfect

Tuning that dude on the dyno is asking for trouble. Plug tuning at the track is the only way to get it right. I spray 250rwhp (300crank) on my sbe. Track tuned.

You'll more than likely need to use a b9efs spark plug gapped at .025. Be sure to pull 12-14 degrees of timing out.

dyno will be cheaper then a day at the track for me and obviously i meant more to the tuning aspect then just playing with the laptop. Dude checks plugs with a magnifying glass. Got a mild sbf thats been in the 8's at over 150mph and the tune up has been spot on all year. Just wondering if anybody has attempted this. I do have another shortblock just in case lol

Dyno doesn't load the weight against the drivetrain like going to the track and putting the actual weight of the car against the drivetrain. In other words, you will be able to get away with alot more timing on the dyno and then when you go to the track BOOM

I have not done this but im putting together a fox right now to do what you are talking about. It will be carb'd tho we have a holley hp750dp on it and two plates stacked 1st stage 175 shot and 100 on the 2nd plate. Running ported 243's gen IV floating wrist pin rods with arp bolts and 4.8L flat tops so it will be 9.9to1 comp ratio. My turbo 5.3L with almost this exact combo is holding 876whp @ 20psi. I'm thinking it should be able to live with 275-300 shot with the good tune. We shall see only time will tell.

You should get pretty deep in the 9's if it all holds. I just went 9.85 @ 134.74 with a 200 shot in my 5.3, stock 862 heads.
