Default NOS 5177 open noid dyno results today...

98 SS A4 w/ K&N FIPK and cut-out.

-motor pull was 310.7 rwhp and 318.9 rwtq
-bottle pull was 454.9 rwhp and 547.7 rwtq

The pulls were made with ~1150 psi in the bottle and no jets.

Who says dry kits don't make torque

Do you have an upgraded fuel system or bottem end in the motor? Any detonation? What are you doing to keep it from melting down, if its pretty much stock?

stock fuel system, stock motor, stock everything
I use a MAFT to richen it up and run 100 octane, but that's it.

So stock system can make about 140rwhp max?

I am running a 167jet at 900 bottle pressure.

That's what I'm getting out of it. I guess maybe with a few more bolt-ons the numbers could get a little higher. And every motor is different. I was also loosing some of the nitrous out of the filter, so I lost a little HP there I'm sure.

I took the jets out of it along time ago and realized how little the Powershots flow. So I did the same on the SS. The results on 8 cylinders really compounds over 4 though

I hate to say it, but you a playing with a huge fire!!! I would say you are close to running a 200hp dry shot. There is no good way to distribute all the nitrous even to the cylinders. You are most likely running close to a 250-275hp shot on the front sylinders and a 125-150 shot on the rears ones. That has to put a huge strain the crank. I would not try it again or you could go very easily.

FYI, the Super Powershot solenoids are rated to a 175hp by NOS. They have a 0.073" orifice. With or without a jet really has no bearing on how well or poorly the nitrous is distributed in the manifold. Get some headers and those numbers will jump quite a bit, but be sure to keep an eye in your AFR and pulse widths.

I have a set of Hooker LT's sitting in my room. I'm waiting on my 12-bolt to get here (going on three weeks now) so I can do the rearend, converter, headers, and a few other things at the same time.
I'm making the same or even a little less rwhp as a TNT 150 shot and there are a ton of people doing this with no distribution problems. As long as I'm not overworking my injectors and staying away from KR I would think it will be okay. Agree or disagree?
Thanks for the warning guys!

You'll be fine. Keep an eye on A/F and be sure you're not maxing out your injectors. Be glad you have a 98, bigger injectors

Your car is gonna be haulin some ***! I might not wanna mess with ya at the strip, but i'm still down for a street roll

Thanks for the info Josh. The injectors are one of the reasons I wanted a 98.
If we race on the street you would kill me,
the car rarely sees the bottle on the street because I have to max out the MAFT to run it.
I'm not making excuses though, I'll run it regardless

Kablooie may be a term to become aquainted with soon. Its risky as hell to run NO jets. Your motor, your money. Just dont act shocked if you burn a cylinder.

No jets with a Powershot solenoid isn't anymore nitrous then a TNT or NX or any other brand making 150 rwhp. It's just a really small solenoid.

Jeff is correct. The Powershot solenoid with no jets isn't any worse than a normal 125-150 wet kick, and "distribution" is not an issue. The solenoid is designed to run without jets as well.

I had a buddy who hosed his 98 T/A for over 2 yrs with a similar dry setup using no jets...
