Default Help me read my plugs

on nitrous. Jets are 30 fuel and 46 nitrous. 950 bottle pressure and 10.2-10.6 afr all thru 2nd gear. New plug installed, 15 sec of idle , full second gear pull and shut off right away. 2 different runs. What to you guys think. I little rich I know but im more worried about timing. Tr6 plugs by the way. First 3 pic are from the first pull and 3 last 3 pics are of the second pull

Definitely looks rich and the timing mark is moving around. Couple questions about your setup. Did you pull these from the same cylinder? They're different plugs in each picture correct? Why are you using a projected plug? What fuel pressure? What nitrous system are you using? What is your motor setup?

same cylinder yes. 2 different plug on two different pulls, not sure what you mean by projected plug. Its NGK TR6. nitrous system is a mix of Pro shot nitrous solinoid and power shot fuel soliniod. Single fogger. fuel is at 58-60 psi as it should be on LS right?
Its a 5.3 block with stock bottom. Patriot stage 2 heads, 224/224 cam. ls1 intake. LT with dual exhaust

thanks for your input.
Like I said before I have a AEM wide band and afrs looked very stable and in 10.2-10.6 range. I'll adjust the jets to get it to 11-11.5 range later. Im more worried about timing. By the way it was on 102 unleaded racing gas.

Your jetting is way off and the timing mark is moving between the 2 pulls. 1st and foremost you need to go with BR7efs plugs. What horsepower are you shooting for? What is your NA timing?

wrong plug, way to rich, and a full second gear pull is not long enough to give you a good reading. that pull couldn't have been more than a second or two in that gear.

I dont know my n/a timing thats the thing. I bought a car like this this is why i start slow with race gas to be somewhat safe. BR7ef you saying huh. Do you think i really need to be 2 step colder? Would I see a difference in performance and driving n/a?
I want to go to 150 shot. what jets would you recommend?
thanks

10secz28 it was about 2-3 sec pull i hit it at 3500 rpm. You suggest to spray 2-3 gears on BR7ef plug?

so i understand the timing mark on ground strap needs to be around a bend. advancing timing will move the mark closer to the base of the ground strap and pull some timing will move it closer to the tip of the ground strap. Right?

yes you definitely want a br7 in there, if tuned right you will see no loss in na performance, and yes if you want a good reading on a plug you need to treat it like your at the track if your doing this on the street i know its hard sometimes but thats the way it has to be done, at least get a 2nd 3rd, and 4th gear pull. if you have no time slip to reference this plug to i would keep the timing at the tip no where near the bend as your getting way to aggressive. First things first though before you hurt something, you need to know what you timing is na, and you need to have the ability to pull and add timing before you go near a 150 shot or any shot really.

thanks for the input 10secZ28
Use NKG BR7 and nothing else, I know autolite and others have "simular" plugs?
Ill try a few more pulls tonight and post pix tomorrow so you can see it better plug to read. I wish there was an easy way to check timing. I dont have them fancy tools
what jets do you recommend for 100 and 150 shot?

Give Nitrous outlet a call and they can get you squared away with the proper jets. Just my .02 i would not be making any more pulls until you have the proper tools to work with but it is your motor.

What I normally suggest is to put the BR7 plugs in and get a baseline tune on those plugs for NA and then use a box like the LNC-2000 to pull timing from there. For a 150 shot a 62 Nitrous jet and a 33 Fuel jet is a good place to start. The 46/30 jetting that you had is way rich for what I'm assuming was an attempted 75 shot? If the cars been tuned before I would think the tuner put the timing pretty aggressive so you're going to want to pull 6 degrees from it on a 150 shot. Whats your fuel system look like?

I too would suggest not hitting that motor with nitrous until you get the timing ironed out or a way to pull the timing out of it.
