Default Fuel System Upgrades

I am looking at running a 175 shot on a Nitrous Works kit... just upgraded the nozzle and got the jets for up to 175 on Friday. Now... I think i will need a new fuel pump for the 175 shot. What would be the best pump to go with???? I was thinking a Walbro 255lph pump would work well for a 175.

What do you guys think?????

BTW... 175 is at the flywheel... which on an A4 would be approximately 140RWHP considering drivetrain losses...

is your motor stock for the most part? if so, a walbro will work good. if not, look into the racetronics setup.

The motor is dead stock. Just induction, exhaust, and transmission upgrades have been performed to the car. I will have to check into the racetronics setup...

Why the 175????

Hell... I tried the 150... and it scared me. Im gonna stick with it for a while, and stay away from the 175. Only shot it twice.

I get some surging with the 150 sometimes... i think it's running too rich... but im looking into ways to monitor fuel pressure... would love to go with a Auto Meter electric fuel gauge... but it's a bit pricey. I'll have to stick with ol' autotap and the Air / Fuel ratio gauge for now.

the laptop might not read the info fast enough. if its surging, then its going lean on the fuel for a second, my car does the same thing on the bigger shots. the fp gauge is the way to go, it maybe be expensive now, but alot cheaper than a new motor.

surging is not lean out guys.. either the bottle is getting low or the pickup is not fully covered due to bottle mounting in conjunction to the pick up .. this causes a rich condition not lean... the only way to go lean is if the fuel is not there.. ie clogged fuel filter.. to much spray for the pump to keep up to the HP levels fuel requirements, or some other restriction.

i take that back as it COULD be but in most instances it is not.. unless your using a hobbs switch for fuel press shut off.. they can cause surging but that is more electriacal surge.. and if the pump is running out of fuel (low tank) this can cause surging as well but MOST of the time it is NOS delivery related with the small shots most guys are running.. if a pump is running out of steam you can see this or if a fuel filter needs changed..

Quick question on the FPSS (Hobbs) switches... the way they are mounted on a wet kit... wont they click on/off until the pressure gets up in the entire fuel system gets to 50psi after the noid opens up giving brief spurts of fuel and nitrous...

Check out my install at http://community.webshots.com/album/55053144tPxZxm

I dont want to attach the FPSS directly to the fuel rail... ive already had a bad experience with that...
