N02 Level indicator?
Mark
Best N02 pass 7.366@92.70 MPH with a 1.591 60ft.
The Lp gas tank for the heater on my hot tub/pool has a gauge on it which displays the amount of gas remaining in the tank in percentage. I'm wondering why a simular gauge couldn't be plumbed in with a "T" fitting to the N02 bottle where the tank pressure gauge is. One side reads pressure and the other side reads quantity in percent. Any suggestions or comments?

something that you could make would be a scale that constantly weighs the bottle, but this seems like it would be a pain also. i always just used a fish scale. only took a minute to hook the bottle and see what it weighed, cheap and acurate enuff, i could tell if i had enuff nitrous for another run or not.
The gauge doesn't weigh anything, weight of the tank is irrelevant. The gauge is marked in 10% increments from 10% to 100%, it's a 120 gallon tank, by texas law you can only fill these tanks to 80% full. 80% of 120 gals is 96 gals. So when the tank is full(96 gals)the gauge reads 100%, you can do the math from there. The mass of the gass in the tank remains constant as long as you aren't spraying at the time you take the readings. Maybe I'm missing something here but I don't see why the same type gauge wouldn't work for the N02 tanks.
cant dr65 is correct, it can be done by measuring flow from the bottle, the trick is taking gas temperature and pressure into consideration at any given time which also can be done. Once again cantdr65 is correct on pricing, the average F body owner probably wouldn't be willing to pay the several hundred dollars this unit would cost when you can weigh the bottle for nothing. Oh well, It was just a thought.

seems like one of the manufactures could make that work. and as long as it knew what the presure was anytime the solonoid was open it should be prety acurate.
You have made several good points, TEHE I'm one of those lazy Americans with a $200.00 remote bottle opener and the reason for the level indicator is because I don't want to have to pull the bottle out to weigh it. I probably wouldn't require financial backing as I'm older(44)than the average F body owner and have a fairly decent dual income. The set up would go something like this, we would have to use an inline volumn-metric flow meter( very costly) to determine the amount of N02 use, the flow meter would then send an electronic signal to the computer box located in the cockpit which inturn would then display a digital representation of the remaining gas in the tank using the computer program to determine the difference between a full tank(a given)and current level. We already have the basic programing figured out(wifes a brainiac) so I think the next step is to do a cost analysis on the flow meter and the computer box. I'm getting ready to invest some money in another business soon so I'm not sure about the timing, I may have to put it off for a while, but it looks like it might work.
