Default TR6 plugs are killing me!!

K guys im losing my mind.

I installed my tr6 plugs recently. checked all the gap and they are all the same. installed new wires.

Still getting an occasional misfire but only at idle and sometimes under load at low rpms. doesnt happen all the time but its driving me nuts..

gapped at 40 is quite a bit less than the 60 the factory plug is at, could this cause my issue?
Could I have just got a bad plug? they are warrantied so im going to put in some new ones tomorrow.
I checked for intake leaks and I dont have any Unless its leaking where my nitrous nozzle is on my intake boot but its a pretty tight fit so I doubt it..

Im out of ideas here unless I have a bad coil which I highly doubt.

What can I try?

My car is also very rich and is in need of a tune. without spray im at 11.4 afr right now. crazy rich. could this affect it?

Have you been spraying on these plugs? If so, how big of a shot, and how often?

Gotcha! Hmmm...well i was running those plugs gapped at .040" as well with no issues at all. The plugs were brand new correct?

Yeah I would start by doing that, and if that doesn't solve it then you know it's not the damn plugs for sure lol

Yeah im hoping so.. I didnt have any problem at all until plugs and plug wires were changed.. I changed the wires after I changed plugs because I had the misfire.. thinking that maybe one of the wires wasnt as tight as it was before.. so I replaced them thinking that was the problem, didnt fix anything

The BR7EFS plug would be a better option than the TR6. If you are going to run the TR6 gap it at .034.
I would check the plugs to see if one is cracked.

Well I replaced the Tr6's with new ones and Now I dont have a misfire. problem solved but that brings me to another question..

I left the gap at 40. at what point to do you need to go another step colder on the plug? how big of a shot can I run on the TR6? I also live a 4500 ft elevation so my cylinder pressures are much less than most people on here.

id like to go with a 150 shot if that isnt asking for trouble with the tr6. how big of a shot can I safely do with them?

I ran a 125 shot on TR6's for about 6 years with no problems. I went to a 150 shot on the TR6's for another year with no problems at all. BUT then I got smart and put the BR7EFs in just to be safe. Some get away with it some dont, just put the BR7EFs in and be done.

This is one of those things where you would "most likely" be safe with a small 75 shot, but for $20 why take that chance. That's just my opinion

I'd recommend just going with the BR7EF's as well.

my car hates the br7 on idle . i cant tell much diff in wot tho. i run the tr6 plugs on a 100 and below. but my car was tuned n/a with the factory plugs and i pull timing myself . i think that could be part of why it dont like the 7s.

I run BR7's n/a (used to run TR6's) and there is no difference in terms of drivability or power

I have run Br7s and TR6s back to back at the track N/A. No difference in times.

BR7s are gonna get dirty faster on a lousy tune. I have noticed an idle difference too between the Tr6 and BR7.

I think you hit it right on the head there! A lousy tune with a colder and non projected tip plug doesn't always work so well lol. Actually, my car idles and runs better now (with the BR7's vs TR6's) but that's because it has a much better tune

Spot on. We have had brand new plugs that had a hairline crack in them thatn caused the car to run like complete crap...
