Default Sprayin with a 4.56

What does everyone think about spraying with a 4.56 gear. Manual 6-speed.

What size rimz you running?
Have you ever tried to Top it out?

I was thinking about buying some new gear couldn't decide between the 4.10 or the 4.56's,
im thinking about going with 19" zo6 style rims in the rear and 18" zo6 style rims in the front.

Let me know how you like your setup

What other mods are on the car? What kind of MPH is the car making NA? More than likely you would need a 30" tire to make it through the traps in 4th gear.

I am running a 28" tall slick. I don't want to take gear out of it cause it runs good on the motor with them. I will be spraying 100 to 150 wet shot and already know I'll have to shift into 5th. The car traps 120 NA so I figure N2O should trap between 128 and 133 depending on how big of a shot.

I'm Running a 26.5" slick.
I haven't run with car with the set-up I've gotten yet. I just installed the TR230 Cam and Ported LS6 Heads. I'll be shifting at 6800.

definatly too much gear for spray with that setup. With your setup I would step down to some 3.73's for sure.

Right now I have a 4.11 and I don't want to go any lower than that I don't think I could handle it. I've had a 3.73 before and it just wasn't quite enough for a six speed. I think I'm going to try the combo out without the 4.56 first and see what happens.

How tall of a slick are you running? How much of a shot are you spraying. That is probley to much gear for nitrous.

ok lets say you trap 130 on the spray. With 4.11's and a 28" tire that would put you right at about 6500 ~ 6600 rpms, which is just about perfect. If you want to spin the motor to 7k or higher to cross the traps in 4th then by all means go for it and let us know how well it works out for you.

Honestly since you already have 4.10's I would just leave them in and see how the car acts at the track. If you absoloutly need to switch then try it and see what happens.

I differ with everyone on here that says that's too much gear for nitrous and 6sp. I have done alot of reserch and this is what I"m going with also. 4.56, 100 shot dry, 28" slick on track and 17" nittos on street (of course more but that's what we are talkin about now). I have talked to a few people that know thier **** about this and they think it'll be hella fun. do it, u won't be sorry.

one of my friends buddies in St. Luie has a 12 bolt w/ 4.56, 28" slicks, clutch and 100 shot dry. he loves it and has had no trouble running that setup. yes he shifts into 5th.......so what????? I don't know why it's so hard for someone to grasp the concept of having to shift into 5th. what are u gonna lose 1mph and MAYBE a 1 or 2 hundreths of a second??? he ran a 10.99 on ONLY that setup, stock internals, stock suspention, even stock manifolds. it can be done and it is done. I'm doing it this season, can't wait.

Hey Jeremy, the car i am talking about in St. Louis is now in the hands of the guy "Doc Otis" here in this thread. it is also the same car on the raging motorsports homepage. It was Tim Tosto's car and he set it up to fly (take a look at that pic launching). yes it is a LOT of gear for nitrous and optimal, probably not, BUT it is a great compromise since for nearly all guys a 28" slick will need a 4.56 gear otherwise it will suck and bog down on motor. also yes i agree that you will run out fo gear at around the 1000' mark on a nice big nitrous shot, but shifting into 5th while your momentem is just plain haulin azz is not going to effect your ETs hardly at all. mph it MIGHT, but we are talking very little here guys.

also 4.56 are just plain SICK on the street and strip! we will do anything to run those big ole honkin slicks! good bye traction issues!
