Default A (not so) quick TNT wiring question

I am testing my new F1 system, and the only thing I hear clicking is the relay when I press the micro switch. I thought I had everything wired correctly??

I think I read somewhere that the yellow wire from the MSD window switch does NOT go to one side of the solenoids. Maybe that is my problem? If that's true, how should the 'noid grounds and the yellow msd line be wired?

the MSD goes to the ground of the relay, not the selonoids.

if you have a FPSS, thats providing ground you can wire it like this

Relay.....fpss......MSD.

Or if your FPSS is rated for it, and you want to, you can use it to ground the noids themselves. (personal preference)

The selonoid ground goes to ground. Power to the relay.

Ryan--Thanks for the response.

I wired the MSD to the relay pin 85, and the solenoids to a chasis ground. Still nothing.

Does the relay itself need to be grounded, or is that provided by the window switch? I do not have a FPSS.

Sorry for the dumb questions. TNT's wiring instructions aren't much help.

Check out this drawing. I did not draw it but it is good and correct.

According to that diagram, I need 2 relays??

Sorry guys, I'm a nitrous newbie. I thought I'd be fine by running the yellow wire from the MSD to pin 85, and grounding the noids to the chasis. Instead, I get nothing. At least before, the relay would click when I depressed the micro switch.

Black00Z,

You can use just one relay if you choose.

What all are you trying to install, FPSS, RPM window switch…

I am wiring a TNT F1 wet kit, a MSD window switch, a NX purge, and a NX bottle heater. I am having problems getting power to the 'noids.

I currently have the noids grounded to the chasis on one side, the other side of the noids going to the 87 pin on the relay, the 30 pin going to the battery, the 86 pin going to the micro switch, and the 85 pin going to the yellow wire on the window switch.

What is the other side of the micro switch hooked to? Should be to 12 volts.
Pin 30 to the battery is ok
Noids to 87 is ok
Is the RPM switch grounded?

In your configuration when the micro switch is pushed (closed) 12v will be supplied to pin 86. At the same time when the RPM switch is activated it will supply a ground to pin 85 causing the coil in the relay to connect pins 30 and 87 and this will apply 12v to the noids.
In order for this to work you must have the RPM switch grounded and the micro switch must apply 12v to pin 86. And the RPM switch pill rpm must also be met.

First off, thanks a lot for the help. I really appreciate you walking me through. I obviously don't know what the hell I'm doing...

Second, I have the other side of the micro switch wired to the acc. post on my arming switch. The arming switch is wired to an open slot in my fuse box.

I do have the window switch grounded. If the RPM pill must be met, how can I test my noids with the car off, as the instructions call for? Can I do that by removing the "on" pill?

you test the system by temporaly grounding the wire where the window switch connects to.

BTW, you want to trade handles? I think yours fits me better

sure i'll trade.... for a 422 LS6 headed 9.0 compression motor

Figure the handle would be a cool license plate when my car gets fast.

The name came from my old car, 1992 pontiac bonneville.... it was SLOW... the new car is FASTer.. but still slow in the scheme of things.

The relay has to be grounded. Follow the diagram in the instructions go wire by wire, it will work. Take your time. Make sure all your connections are GOOD, don't use bud connectors. ALL grounds must be good!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck.

Everything is wired and ready to go. My only problem is is that I'm leaking like a sieve at the filter and purge.
