Default Higher octane gas

Would mixing 93 and some 105 or octane booster on a LS car tuned for 93 do anything to help with detonation when using nitrous? Or would it be a waste of time?

those octane boosters are a waste of time and money imo. just mix race gas if you want. but its more then just fuel for detonation. its tune, timing, plugs etc etc. also what size shot and wet or dry system?

Right I understand there is more to it. 100 shot wet. Have Br7EF's. Figured the octane booster was a waste of time was gonna mix a little higher octane when spraying for added protection.

If you have the correct jetting and reduced timing you should be just fine without needing to increase octane. Especially if its just a 100 shot. Now at a 200 shot I might be thinking more in your direction. lol.

Just mix in a little race gas for added insurance.

Why not go the stand alone fuel cell route?

You "may" be ok on a 100 shot with a BR7 plug, but I would still get some timing pulled regardless. You're gonna spray more sooner or later, so you might wanna invest in a LNC, custom timing control box, etc.

I nipped a plug and cracked a sleeve on a 125 shot on N/A timing about 10 yrs ago, but that was with TR6 plugs.

I'm running a 150 shot w/no timing puller (~26*) fuel is set a tad rich for safety. And just for piece of mind, I throw a gallon of 110 in my 1/4 tank for the track.

I didn't see any mention of him not wanting to pull timing but if that's the case I'd advise against it. The LNC controller is very nice and something good to have especially when you ultimately up the shot because you will. A standalone is another great thing to have but if you can't get one right away some unleaded race fuel will work.

I agree with all you just said, I took his last post as he did not currently have a way to pull timing atm. My 26* is in the tune (and no, it is NOT a turd on motor )

Rich and no timing pulled.. You're playing with fire, but it's your car.

Sladester2, don't take this guy's advice.

Lean causes detonation..no?
What is your WOT timing and on what shot?
I've made numerous pull on the dyno SEARCHING for any sign of detonation.
I guess I trust my tuner (FASTERPROMS). Also, you will notice I agreed with having a timing puller!

Was at 12* total from 28* on a .088N jet, but now at *10 on a .093N yet.

How are you searching for detonation? A dyno isn't the correct way to tune nitrous since there isn't enough load on the vehicle. 1/8-1/4 mile on the street/track, then pull plugs.

If your tuner is tuning your car on the dyno and not reading plugs, then it's time to find another tuner.

You shut the car off and pull them? Any pics?

Not trying to argue, just trying to learn...

^No problemo, but I try not to give bad advice here on ls1tech, especially in the nitrous section.

One cars "luck" can be another cars disaster.
