Default Master Switch

I've been contemplating setting up a master switch setup for my car to disable my Line lock and nitrous when I'm not racing or playing around. The car is my wife's daily driver and I would hate for her to make accidently set the linelock or spray the car without being ready for it.

I think it might also come in handy if I were to ever let anyone do something like Valet it or if it got towed somewhere. Some sort of key actuated switch going to a master relay. Kind of like the Valet feature that the ZR1 vettes have.

Has anyone done anything like this?

Do y'all think it would be worth the time to do something like this?

I know that if my wife was driving it often, I'd do it. Sounds like a good idea. I had a supercharged 3rd gen 383 that saw a lot of valet. I'd pop an 1800 rmp pill in my ignition before handing over the keys. lol, I can't tell you how many valets told my I should get that thing in for service.

Setting a rev limiter like that is simple with a prehistoric ignition like the HEI. On current setups it's not so simple. I haven't even really thought about it, but I suppose you'd have to lug around a laptop or other tool like a HPP3 and tweak your PCM every time.

with hp tuners it woudl be easy, flash it in 30 seconds.

For the "master arm" switch, i have a nice 22mm keyswitch made by Telemechanique (sp?) that fits perfect in the ciggarette lighter spot. Would make a good master arm switch for those items. They're available through grainger, not cheap, but they're industrial quality parts.

If i had a kit or a linelock on my car, i would have them on a master keyswitch like this.

One more thing, the master switch would also be connected to my bottle heater & that way I would have less of a chance of my bottle heater being turned on by the pressure switch with the bottle's valve closed.

I plan on starting this setup next week, if anyone is interested I'll try to keep a picture log and wiring schematic of the whole thing. But it should be a basic setup, all power for my Line lock and nitrous system running through one or 2 big relay's controlled by a key switch.

I work offshore on an oil rig and one of my jobs is ordering parts, I do a lot of business with Grainger, wonder if I could slip one of those in on a rig supply order.

This is pretty easy guys. For a master arm switch just run it into a SPDT relay. Use the switched power (87a I believe) to power the remaining switches or circuits. When you cut the power the relay toggles off and severs the power to all the other circuits using it. That includes a line lock, transbrake, bottle heater, solenoids, fuel pump, etc. I run this on my car and it works great!

All the better line lock kits include a master arm switch as well as an LED indicator to disable the circuit when not in use.

We design all 3 types of our kits with these features.

It is not only a safety issue, but if you accidently activate your circuit for more then 60 seconds, you can possibly burn out your solenoid.

Our B-001 kits are 119.99 everyday.

Steve10 I have one of your kits hopefully on the way, you sent me the confirmation the other day. But I'm still tying everything into 1 switch & plan on using your master switch.
