Default Sbe ls1 on a big shot

Anyone ever sprayed a sbe ls1 with a 300 and kept the rods in it for awhile?

Is the engine is otherwise stock? If you pull out about 14-16 degrees and ramp it in over a cpl of second's it might hold together.

My buddy made a bunch of passes on his with a 200 shot on it. Went 6 teens before he destroyed the 4l60 with a wheel hop . Fuel and timing has to spot on

The car is on a 200 now and it’s healthy, looking to make some changes over winter

Have heard of it being done at higher rpm ie 4,000+ , fuel dialed in ~11 to 1 and with very little timing like 8 degrees. No idea if how accurate that info is or how long it lived was from dyno testing session.

Lots of people have done it. I sprayed 250 on a sbe for two seasons. Friend mine did 300 for a season with no issues. It's all in the tune. Looks like you got a great set up. Put a -10 plug in it and pull plenty of timing.

Of course they have. I have seen an idiot toss a 400 shot into a Ford and just blow all the headgaskets with over 50* of timing. The failure happened so fast the block did not even crack. Anything can happen. Just do not expect the same results. Nitrous oxide is known as "giggle juice", not "racer juice".

Nitrous is a great power adder when used correctly.
Its also a great way to ruin an engine when used by a boob.

It can be done. As far as how long the motor lives, is up to the person tuning it.

Thank you. I was almost out of snarky comments. Quite ready for a voice of reason to chime in. The truth is nitrous is a powerful, cost effective power adder. The other truth is that it attracts the worst possible idiots and "Fast and Furious" type people imaginable.

I had a 275 shot on my completely stock LS1 in my 97 Corvette. Tracked and street raced it for years. Literally 100’s of bottles of nitrous went through that motor

Oh yeah. Care to elaborate more on this NOS setup?

My nitrous C5 (I’ve owned many C5’S) was a street racer. Started off with bolt on’s, 3:90 gears and ended up with a 5000 stall converter. Then, 125 ZEX shot and 2 hidden 50 dry shots. Bought the Money Maker hidden system from Nitrous Outlet (best nitrous kits I’ve ever owned). Used that in combo with the dry and ZEX kit in different fashions. My black C5 was the one on Kings of The Streets (Florida) that Kerry Ward was producing back in the day. Ran 10.8’s on motor then let the spray come on 😎
BTW... that was on a 120,000 + mile never been opened LS1 😎

Would like more details on how to set up the NOS on a car. Did you have a dedicated or was the fuel system providing your fuel? What did you do to control timing when on the bottle? Both of my engines have forged internals with .024 and .026 ring gaps on the LSX 427 and .026 and .028 on the LS370. I've been told I'd be fine up to 200 shot on a plate but I was thinking I could go even more on the LS370.

My 04 Corvette was on a 225 shot but it was hitting like a 275 shot. I ran e85 in the tank with br7ef plugs, worked well but I did bend a rod. I'd suggest using a progressive unit to reduce the stress of the instant hit but like everyone has said it's all in the tune.
