Default Just got my 5177

Question is.......on the lines that run to each side of the airlid, there was only a jet on 1 side. a .046 i believe. Does there need to be a jet on both sides? Also, I'm looking for a combo of 75, 100, 125, and 150. What jet sizes would I need to make these combos? Thanks. BTW, search has been down for hours now lol.

Go to the sticky post frequently asked questions and go to the colonels nitrous files. Cold fusions web site also has a good jet calculator

I think no jet in both is like a 140 shot.

NOS rates at the crank, so dual .028's is 75hp or 63.75hp at rw. 100hp is dual .033's or 85rwhp. 125hp is dual .038's or 106.25rwhp. 150 is dual .043's or 127.5rwhp. Rwhp is figured using 15% drive train lose. Every .001 increase is worth 2.5hp at crank according to the way NOS does it, but just subtract 15% and you'll get the rwhp. You can put diffrent jets in either side to come up with what ever power rating you want. Hope this helps. I have a link to the Colonels tech files in my links section in my web.

I ran the 5177 for a year but have recently installed the NX wet kit for reliability and safety reasons.

I was thinking 5177 too but that means I have to get injectors. Too much money for me.

Bickel, how do you like the NX wet kit? That's the route I'm going. I want a TNT, but that's also out of my price range.

The NX wet kit is a big improvement over the dry kit. More consistent, more power, safer.

From what I read and understood of it, a dry kit was safer for a lower hp application on our LS1's. Any thoughts on that?

Lot's of thought on that! I've read threads that have gone 6 pages with varying opinions on that, and no clearcut winner.

To me, which is just IMHO, having the stock computer pull the fuel and timing for you, rather than relying on an aftermarket sylenoid to do it, is much safer. But I have no experience with a wet kit, so I really should just STFU....

Actually, 98's are the one year where the stock injectors are adequate. Also, my 5177 kit came with the jet tables in the manual.

That's true but I still think I'm pushing them with my heads/cam putting down 413/383.

If you think otherwise, let me know, the 5177 is a bargain.

I would never go back to a dry kit. Period.

The one thing that we have to remember is if a dr or wet kit of equal power is tuned correctly, the wet kit has the added draw back of mech failure that the dry does not; Meaning, fuel noid, fuel relay, fuel fuse, fuel wiring failure can mean diasater. Now upgrading injectors as a cost factor we have to look at svo 30's (37lb) at about $220 plus $550 for the NOS 5177= $770 with all the safety stuff in the kit. Now an NX wet (a good kit) at about $750 plus the gen 2 add on kit for the safety stuff is well over a $1000 dollars. So, to me the 5177 even with injectors is still a bargan and later you can add to it in so many ways: turn it wet, dual stage dry, propane kicker, dual dry/wet and more. I believe that dry on ls1/ls6 is the safer choice and this decision is made after running wet kits for 20+ years. Of course, some will disagree, and Bicklefirebird has my respect because he at least has run a dry kit where as most naysayers haven't.

I have never had a wet kit, got a great deal on a 5177 kit so have that. Read up on it & best I came up with is if staying within limits of the dry kit youll be fine but if you wanna go with a big shot, I'd go with a wet kit.
