How sensitive are noids to heat??
Hey guys,
About done with my NX install but now have a couple doubts about my solenoid placement. They are basically in a non-ventilated area and prone to some heat off the engine. Trying to get a hidden install location but dont want to fry my noids in the process.
So, i'm wondering how sensitive solenoids are to heat??? Obviously, I know you shouldn't mount them next to an exhaust manifold, but how much can they take?
Thanks
Spencer

I have mine mounted on the pass head. They are spaced off 1/2 inch for cooling, but still get hot. A good noid won't have to much problem with additional heat. But there is a limit, heat equals resistance and thus can lead to failure of noid to operate, or wire fire, or relay failure, or fuse blown from the added current draw trying to overide the resistance. So be careful. I haven't had any issues with the added heat.
Once the gas begins to flow doesent the Nitrous noid cool off?
How long should a good set of noids be able to be powered with no over heating problems? It seems as though some of them heat up very rapidly as others do not. I guess the total amp draw and/or impedance of the control coil would determine this.

NXRICKY I was told that NX had a new 2-dial Progreesive Nitrous controller (part #15835) at a new product show for motorcycles in Indy last month. I was also told it was voted best new product or something like that. Not really sure as I was not there personally.

You are correct we did, and it did. It retails out at 399.00. We are also in the final stages of testing our new dual window switch, that has a tps input, and can be converted over to a progressive unit per stage. SHHHHH nobody is suppose to know.
