Default difference between different forms of nitrous

I am contemplating putting a nitrous system on my car, and i have read through the sticky on FAQ's and read a page or two on here. First let me say that all the people who post information on here, keep it up, it helps out a lot!

OK, well so far I havn't read anything about the difference between the different forms of injecting the nitrous... dry, wet, direct port (same thing as wet?). So I was hoping all of you nitrous guru's on here could enlighten on the differences and the advantages of each...

I'd really appreciate the help everybody. Thanks.

In my web in the links section is some threads/links concerning wet/dry and can give you some insight and a starting point to ask more specific questions.

thanks for the help

well now that i have read through all that, i've decided that a dry kit will fit my needs for now. that being said, mentioned on that page is the 5177 kit. is this a good kit for me to purchase (i have seen it mentioned a lot on here actually...) or are there other kits out there that are better? i noticed nitro dave had that special this month on one of his kits...

any advice?

thanks again robert, that site was very helpful

I have not read Roberts sig. However Ill through my opinion out here.
A dry kit is great for the begginer that is looking for a siple add on and happy with a 100 to 125 rear wheel HP.It works by Spraying dry nitrous into the air streem.THe mass air meter tells the car to add the extra needed fuel through the injectors.
The down fall is that if you decide you want more HP you will need to upgrade your injectors and change your tune.

A wet system works by spraying a mixture of fuel and nitrous into the air streem. The nozzle goes after the mass air meter/before the throttle body. This system is betterknown for producing better torque numbers and track times. You can easely spray up to 150-175 and never have to change injectors.

No mater what system you go with. You will need to upgrade your fuel pump when spraying the larger HP numbers.Like 150 or more to be safe.

IF you go Dry check out our Dry Halo system. It blows that NOS kit out of the water. If you go wet Look at the NX single Nozzle or ours. They are the best on the market.

The Halo system is a nice set-up, and the main competitor to the 5177. One thing to mention about dry if you choose it, injectors are only a couple hundred dollars and if you compare the cost to a wet kit and add ons needed, prices are pretty close, imo. What ever you choose, try to buy from a site vendor to help support LS1Tech (I think Dave carries the 5177 if you decide).

ok so how does the halo kit function? does it still go in before the MAF? well if its a dry kit it must correct? also, as it says 40, 60, 80 hp gains, that is comparative to say 100, 125, 150 ratings on other kits?

just a different way of it being released into the air stream. i think it's just plain cooler to have (the halo kit)

it still goes before the MAF as it is a dry kit, like you said.

sure, with proper fueling and it's always a recommendation to have something to read how your engine/computer is reacting to the spray. just as a safety precaution

Our Halo kit sprays through a spray bar.Looks like this.

We can bring the inlet up through the filter or the back side of the air box.We have made a few changes from the time we took this picture. Our first one had the entry in the side.WE moved that and brought the discharge holes down so it does not spray on the air lid.We use all top quality NX parts.

does this setup give you any type of advantage? and also, would this setup be somewhat harder to notice on a car? i am somewhat considering trying to "hide" the fact that i have nitrous on the car... but more than likely won't.

thanks again for your input guys... best forum for advice so far

does running a dry system mess up the MAF in the long run or is it safe to spray on the MAF?

Will not hurt the MAF.
