Default Detonation woes.

Hello guys I have a 99 trans am and I have a delema on my hands. My current setup is a 408 stroker with the AFR 225 heads and a BIG LUMPY cam. And a jerico 4 speed. With all the regular extras, my problem lies in what is bolted to the engine. I also have a procharger D1 blower w/22# of boost AND a 275 wet kit this combo was good for right at 1100rwhp. The problem is I sense some SERIOUS detonation when running 93 octane fuel on the street it sounds like you let miniature demons loose in my oil pan with ball peen hammers. What can I do? Would an intercooler help?

With out the nitrous? What compression are you stacking the 22 pounds of boost on?
If this is with the nitrous you will defintly need beter fuel than 93 ocatain.and maybe some timing pulles posibly a colder plug.

Yeah that was on the motor alone cant wait to spray it, that may call for a splash of liquid gold (race gas). Maybe later this week I can get to the dyno after work and get some big shot numbers. Oh and the 408 is 11:1 comp ratio. Is this too high for street gas?

you are DEEEP into race gas territory. If you ever want to spray youll need the highest octane gas you can find. IMO minimum of C16.

Dont take this wrong but I cant help but to wonder if you are pulling our legs here....

Did you really think you were going to take a 11.1 motor and 22lbs of boost and run pump gas.Im afraid that even detunning the car and pulling the timing may not do the trick.I really think you are stuck with race gas...

Im not trying to be negative just asking are you serious?

I gotta go with Red on this one. 5 posts, and asking such a unplanned setup question. Nice waste of time. Here's an answer for you: USE THE SEARCH BUTTON!

Why do there seem to be so many liars on 'Tech recently? No one has brought up that this guy supposedly has a blown/juiced 408 with AFR heads and yet can't afford race gas. Huh. Good planning on the finances!

Don't forget the lumpy cam. Those don't work well with forced induction. No way you will hit 1100 hp with a lumpy cam and the procharger. Too much overlap means you are blowing your intake charge right out the exhaust valves instead of filling the cylinders.
