Default 240/247 637/649 @114 Cam In 408

I Have A 408ci Build For N2o.. Car Teh Car Feels Good In High Rpm Mainly After 4k But Not As Powerfull In Low Rpm.. My Question Is Do You Guys Think This Cam Is Going To Pull Good When The N2o Goes On?? Or Should I Change The Cam..

Here is the problem you will face. Most cams with that kind of lift fall off on the top due to valve float or not enough spring. Plus on the bottom you will lose alot of velocity due to the lift as well. If your car feels like crap now, it wont realy get too much better with the juice. I think a 408 should pull alot harder on the bottom then a 346 would. I would check with your tuner and make sure he is running the correct amount of timing.

That cam isnt too far off from my, looking at sheer numbers. Mine is a 231/242 .630/.622 @ 114* by EDC for my 347 and smaller 300shot.
You definately need the heads to flow for it, and the tune to maximize it. Like Rick mentioned, low end shouldnt be brutal, but with the extra cubes you should have some responsiveness, on juice it I'd hope it would fly. GL

thats a big ****!!!!!
mine dosnt even touch 240's and is far from 600+ lol
baby cam in my ride.
a cam that size i would think is all bottom end. not a high rev cam
im no expert, but i had a 242/248 610/614 @ 112 and the car makes more power with my small cam, and runs faster all around.
pretty happy with my baby cam

to be 100% truthfull. i tried like 6 cams till i found the best one over all, and it was x. lol the last 3 where very close, i cant even remember what i have. lmao.
i will say the last 3 where the best and they where all around.
236 and 580 ish. all where 112+2
the +2 imo was a big big help in making bottom rpm power, but like i said, im no expert. but i did a t-rex, it was ok, and i did 5 other custom grinds. some big some small, and the smaller ones liked it better.

Brad, are you running AFR's or stock castings?

I just switched to a "smaller" cam and picked up 30hp

you mean from 11.2 to 11.0 right. not 11.0 to 9.0

lean on it more because of the thicker deck?

Cant wait to get some AFR's on my car this winter

That cam ought to make good power both on motor and on the bottle especially on the big end. Mine is a 244/248 .612/.615 on a 114 +4 LSA, it's the largest cam Comp makes with the XER lobes. My 408 makes 485RWHP on motor and 750RWHP on the bottle and runs 6.80 on motor and 5.9/6. on the juice in the 1/8th. Got any idea what your compression ratio is? What heads are you using and what size valves?

just to let you know I have afr 225's heads milled to 67cc leaving me at 11:1.. for sure I'm hella rich right now but havent gotten around to finish my tune. Im not sure what the valve size is.

well the only reason why i think it feels like crap is because the tune isnt all there.. I dont even think of puttin juice on it because its way to rich right now.. I have thought about putting a smaller lift cam in but want to see the full potential of the cam with a full tune.

I guess thats the difference from the street and a dyno that can meassure your torque in part throttle.

right about now I'm paying for not have gotten a tune near by.. just a ? My cam is bigger and I have no issues whatsoever. My car makes good power on and off the spray.

If your pulley started comming off, then I hope you didnt put wear on the front bearing, that might also cause a bad oiling problem, which means bad bearing. If not, then what about the o-ring when you put the pump in? Those are easy to also mess up.

i Wouldn't drive it anymore if I were you. You need to find out the problem or you'll mess up the motor

well i didnt drive the car much with the pulley like that.. i fixed it right away.. i remember putting the o-ring in correctly but who knows.. the only thing i can do is buy the new oil pump and hope from the best.. which pump do you think is good for the motor..
