Default spray on a 01 1500 silverado question.

Have the kit, but have never sprayed an auto matic. we are putting the kit on sunday, and want to know the do's and don'ts for spraying an auto. The truck is a 5.3, 4l60e trans. The truck is also 100% bone stock with the exception of the muffler. any help is greatly apreciated, thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, and the kit that I will be putting on is a NX wet kit. I have the msd window switch for this also, but don't know what wire is the tach wire to hook into. looking to hit the 5.3 with either a 75 or a 100 shot.

Looks like you picked a good quality system.
Real fast.
1. Change your spark plugs- one step colder non platnum. TR6s will work
2. Make sure all your wiring is correct.
3. Blow all the lines out to make sure there is no trash in them. Including the main feed line after running it through the vehicle.
4. Test fire the system before use.


In order to get the best performance out of the kit a NItrous Pressure gauge,bottle heater and a purge is suggested.

Im not sure on which PCM wire it is. If you call MSD they may be able to tell you.Or it may be answered if you ask in the truck section.

Ahem. I have been spraying mine for about 2.5 years now with no issues. I have a stock bottom end 5.3. No problems. Do as Nitrous Dave suggested. I dont have a purge or bottle heater. I just dont see a need for a purge when I can just hit the switch one time before getting to the track to get all the air out of the lines.
Bottle heater is not needed, I can just run warm water over the bottle to reach good (1000 psi) pressure. You will have fun with it. I remember the first time I sprayed, it was a joyous experience and very addicting. By the way, get some tires. lol.

I made the first "test" passes the other day, and HOLY CRAP! I had this kit on my camaro, and i knew that it would be cool, but I was a littlenervous about a couple of things.

1 don't know how the stock bottom in the 5.3 would hold the 100 shot.

2 The nozzle is only like 2 inches from the throttle body because i still have the stock intake tube.

3 the camarowas a 6 spdcar, and the truck is an auto, and I do not want to screw up the trans. right now the kit is run off of te wot switch, and then also has to go through the msd window switch before te spray will hit. The kit activates at 3000 rpm at wot, and shuts down at 5400 rpm. fro what I can tell the spray stops like 100 or 200 rpm before the shift hits.

I will be going to the track tis friday to get some times. The ONLY other mod that the truck has is a moroso bullet muffler.
