Default N2O is not cheating

My friend and I have an on going argument about wether N2O is cheating or not. He says it is because it barrowed horse power. Yet he talks about supercharing his car all the time. To me a power adder is cheating only if your running a car with out a power adder. So an SC is or turbo isnt any different than nitrous yeah its not there all the time but I dont need 500 hp when im running to dennys for breakfast. Also Nitrous lets you run all motor or power adder so when that cocky ricer gets smart and says you only beat me cause you got juice you can spray it and beat him buy 6 more car lengths and really make him feel stupid.

Feel free to chime in with your .2 on the subject

This topic is always a fun one to see people's thoughts on. My position on this is cheating is only cheating if you are breaking rules, and only then it's cheating if you get caught lol. Nitrous is availible to anyone who wants it just like any other power adder out on the market. It's not like it's some secret part that only Pat Musi or Steve Kirk can get their hands on. When it comes to street racing (not that I condone that sort of thing, haha) I think it all falls back on the old saying, "Run what ya' brung, and hope you brun enough." And if you know you don't have enough you better be a good talker to get some type of advantage on the terms of the race, haha.

The people that say nitrous is "cheating," are the ones scared of losing to a nitrous fed car. I don't exactly see how it could be considered cheating. If you have ported heads and the other guy doesn't, is that cheating? If you stroke your motor or add headers, is that cheating? I can pound the pavement with the flip of a switch just the same as a turbo car can turn up the boost. Run what ya brung is what I say.

RUN WHAT YA BRUNG!!!! i believe most people consider juice sheating becouse its inexspensive. If a turbo was only a few hundred bucks people would hate that as well. i dont even have nitrous and i dont think its cheating

lol, I'm completely the opposite. I have it and I think it is cheating, but I've been cheating since Kindergarten so it's nothing new to me.

I agree with jeremy.. Cheating what? There has to be rules in order to be cheating. Otherwise HP is HP and winning is winning are turbos and sc's cheating? It's all fair in the HP game!! Unless you are racing a circuit or event that says otherwise

the only time it's cheating is if you are racing in a specific class that doesn't allow power adders in organized racing (at the track)...if you are talking about street racing, then hp is hp

EDIT: whoops...i didn't read the last post cause i was anxious to post mine and said the same thing

think of it this way, and it's always been my explanation...

nitrous - people say it's cheating cause it's "borrowed" power. it's using an outside source to boost power. so adding a chemical to a mixture to help increase the power is cheating. alright, let's go on that...

turbo - you are using the speed of the exhaust gases to spin an external impeller that isn't part of the original internal combustion engine and by spinning that impeller it is sucking in more air than it normally would and is forcing that air into the intake path. so again, adding in an "extra" that would never be there to begin with. in this case, it's just an extra amount amount of something it's already using. but it's cheating because it's using something that the engine has already been done with.

supercharger - same concept as the turbo, using an external impeller to boost the amount of air flow being forced into an engine. this time though, you are using the rotation of the engine to spin the impeller and can decide how much air to force in by selecting difference size pulleys. so this is cheating by taking advantage of a mechanical necessity for the engine to run that wasn't ever part of the initial process of a running internal combustion engine

how's that for some weird rationalization, haha.

Yea I hate when people complain about nitrous and say it is cheating. **** that, its a power adder, as is a cam, heads, SC, turbo, etc. People just get pissed because its a cheaper power adder when compared to a supercharger or turbo (intial cost wise, filling bottles gets expensive lol) and who cares if the power isnt always there? I agree with 98redorangeta, who needs 500+ hp to go to dennys or run errands? I looked for a while at turbo's and sc's and decided that im gonna spray the hell out of my car once i get my cam installed next spring as nitrous produces huge tq numbers and is much much cheaper than a turbo or sc. JMO.

All's fair in racing. Power is Power is Power, wether it be a N/A monster, an FI car or a n2o car...end of story.

I disagree w/ GM Muscle...dude you have nitrous! what a contradictory statement.

How can it be cheating if he has just as much of an opportunity to use it as you do? He can squeeze just like you can.

there are no rules in this game...if you tread in high waters be prepared for the consequences.

if you notice...95% of the people that claim nitrous is cheating are those who dont have it and/or have never used it.

tell your friend to buck up and take his *** beatins like a man...stop bitchin!!!

There is no way nitrous is cheating. Everyone has the power to buy it, but not everyone can write the check. I just hate when they say, " Why don't you run without the spray and lets see what happens!!!" I just reply, " I didn't ask you to take your supercharger off so we could run!!" Like I said its all about who can write the check and when they can't write the check they are pussies about the situation. In my opinion Nitrous can become a very expensive modification with all the safety stuff and tuning, but they don't turn you away at the track when you show up with it. After having nitrous and now N/A I wouldn't ask my buddies not to run me on their sprayed setups. If I am getting sprayed then tell me, I don't mind because I just want to know what is takes to beat me.
