Default Stock rods okay for spray?

I've almost got everything to rebuild my LS1 shortblock. I plan on using Speed Pro Forged Pistons/Rings and the ARP Cracked Rod Bolts with the stock rods. Would that be good for an occasional 100-150 shot? Thanks.

Should be ok, stock LS1's can handle that all day.

You'll be fine, but are you sure that's all your going to spray. Maybe a good idea if ya have the extra money to stick rods in, but you could get away without. guys are spraying more than you want with stock stuff, so...

You would most likely be okay with stock rods, but while you are in the engine, go with forged pistons AND rods. It is worth the extra little bit of money!

Stock rods are very strong, but all it takes is one nice strong hole shot with sticky tires and then you risk having to go into the motor again and spend all that labor/money just because you didnt spend a few extra hundred bucks to begin with. Also, if a rod does fail, I believe it will usually snap (kiss the block goodbye). ...whereas forged will usually bend if anything

Stock GM rods are forged -- I don't think any con rods are cast

I would personally put some forged rods in there while your there.. However the stock rods will handle a 100 to 150 with no problems.

Yes you spray on them just fine, from what I understand stock internals are good up about 150, it's always a good idea if you can afford it to beef up internals though

Yes....but like everyone else has said, if you are going with forged pistons, go with a good set of QUALITY rods and not the Eagle junk.

Who has stock forged rods in their LS1? Mine are powdered metal. As a matter of fact, all the LS1s I have built have powdered metal cracked rods. If you don't think the rod will shatter just think, that is how they made the two piece rod on the big end in the first place, they crack it in two.
