Default Nitrous and Fire Jacket

We had street legal drags this weekend and the tech guy told me as of 1/1/06 NHRA rules state your must wear a fire jacket if your car is equipped with nitrous. I have been looking on the internet but can not find any info. Is this a new rule for everyone as I was told or just something new at out track? CA Speedway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rick

No need in arguing with a track tech.. They can make or break you at the track. jackets are cheap like under 80.00.

not sure if it is true or not. been wearing a jacket for so Long I guess it does not matter unless they changed the use of other safety equipment when using N2O also?

I'll have to find it and read it again. It pretty much boiled down to this. If the vehicle is equipped with N2O, Turbo or SC that is not a factory installed unit then the wear of a fire jacket is now required by NHRA.

I wear a fire jacket anyway and hope they don't notice the lack of a roll bar. They aren't that expensive anyway.
