help with 2 stage dry kit (diagram inside)

Default help with 2 stage dry kit (picture diagram inside)

hey dry guys i just setup a diagram of my dry setup, on the dyno i put down 384.82rwhp and 383.79rwtq on motor. with the dry nitrous kit setup the way in the diagram with 900psi pressure in the bottle and the 1st stage jetted .32 and the 2nd stage jetted at .63 i put down 502.23rwhp and 521.25rwtq. this is a gain of 117.41rwhp and 118.44rwtq. i thought i would see at least a 200rwhp/rwtq gain with the 1st stage jetted at 100 and the 2nd stage jetted at 150. both stages are fed by a single 15lb bottle with a single -4an line tee'd before the 1st stage (see diagram) does anyone have any comments of why i might not have seen more gains in hp with this setup. i will be changing this setup by running 2 bottles and 2 -4an lines, i will run the first stage off a single bottle and -4an line and the 2nd stage the same way. thanks for your input and suggestions. i ran this combo at the track and on my motor pass i ran a 12.1@113, and on the spray it went a 10.98@126, this shows me that it was only spraying about 100-150 shot. this is a 6 speed car. thanks for the help and suggestions.

What did your A/F ratio look like on the dyno? In the pic above your second nozzle looks like it's way to close to the MAF.

BTW: I wouldn't bother splitting up the system with two bottles and two feedlines. One 15lbs bottle and -4AN feedline should be more than sufficient for a 200 shot.

on the dyno the a/f was at 12.5, the dyno doesn't put a load on the car is what i was told, on the street and the track the a/f on both stages is around 10.5 to 11.2. on the dyno i had the second stage nozzle aimed away from the maf, once i got home i turned the nozzle toward the maf and logged with my wideband and got the 10.5 to 11.2 range, on the high end it starts going towards the mid 10 to low 10 a/f range.

well i am hoping to spray a 250-275 dry shot this year once i figure out why this setup isn't spraying at least the 200 shot. i have everything i need for that shot. forged 347, spec 5, 4.11's in a ford 9 inch, 60lb motorons, dual intank 255's. the basic bolt ons, 224/224-112cam, stock heads, ls6 intake.

Dual .032's is about is about 80rwhp, or about 100hp at the crank. The .063 is about 125rwhp and 150 at the crank. So now we are at a combined hit of 205rwhp. Because of your time, I would suspect you are around 135/150, because I run that time area on a 125rwhp dry in a lighter vette. Lean that hit out a bit and that will help with some added hp. Maybe one of your noids is not opening all the way? how about a dirty filter? to many "t" fittings and hard 90's? Yes a single 4an line and 15lb bottle should be enough. Keep checking, and you'll find something more than likely. What was your sixty footer? Remember, dynos don't allways show the real results, as your track run shows. Keep us informed.

well i haven't checked the filter lately, but i did notice that where i tie strapped the line under the car and where it comes up to the solenoids there is a nice crease in the line like it has been crushed and bent so this may be where some of the restriction is coming from. as for my 60ft times all i have gotten out of it is a best of 1.602 on 28x10.5 e.t drags, this is with a soft launch at about 3600 on the spray, but i have only made 5 passes this year on this setup resulting in my spec 3 giving out on me. i'm in the process of putting in the spec 5 now. robert do you do your own tuning? if so could i shoot you my bin file and see if it looks to par.

Yes, and yes. May take a couple days though, as I am in the middle of tuning a dry hit to upsized injectors right now, and trying some of the new dual tune stuff that's been talked about, and also am somewhat lazy.

Get some Y blocks to replace those T's and 45* stuff to replace the 90's

I am feeding a 2 stage 225 shot(125+100) thru a 4an line with a Y block.

did you try spraying just one stage at a time? that would let you know if one or the other was or wasnt working. It almost sounds like your just getting the second stage. you can also pick up some flow by running the feed line into the "T" and splitting the noids at the lid on your first stage. I would also bump that bottle pressure up at least 200psi. another good gage is how many pounds are you using per pass? the rule of thumb is 1# per 100 shot per 10 sec. Ive found that weighing the bottle closely can help tell how the kit is flowing, letting you know if its a flow issue or a tuning issue

Sounds like the mainline may be crushed or only one stage is working.

well on the street i have sprayed one kit at a time so i know both kits are working, i think its possible that the -4an is almost crushed toward the front of the car where it comes up to the noid, it has a nice bend in it with a crease.
