Default Good Nitrous Converter? Have SS4000/Getting New Tranny Perfect Time

Title says it all. Have a Yank SS4000 2.6 STR Torque Converter and 3.42 gears in my 01 Vette. Have a 100 wet shotand sprayed only 2-3 times and althought my tranny is OK now (stock tranny) it will break soon and I might be getting a Level IV RPM Tranny soon. While my car is up there I was thinking maybe I should swap my SS4000 for a smaller stall?

Which one and why?

The SS4000 is cool, but I am not at the track that often and kind of want a lower stall on the street. I mean the 4,000 is great, but a bit too tall for me for everyday driving and bursts of speed.

Yank has (2) specficied nitrous converters, but who knows?

-Might also get Hardended output shaft while it is out.

Thanks

Bandit

[SIZE=2]RPM Transmissions is a vendor in Indiana that builds a lot of trannys and all love them. 11.42 at 122.58 MPH was NA.

RPM does good work and did most of my work, heads/cam/TC/gears/etc etc etc

I ran 11.10 at 124MPH on the bottle in 90 degree heat, haven't sprayed in the cool air yet. That was one of the few times I sprayed.

I should be in the 10's with a beefed up tranny spraying out of the hole and THROUGH the shifts which I don't do now!

Here are the 2 Converters for Nitrous from YANK

Nitrous/Blower Converters:

PRO YANK 3400 EXTREME 4L60E/4L65E
258mm, Posi Lock-Up Clutch w/Kevlar Linings, 6 bolt mounting lugs , lightweight billet cover, 3400 stall, 2.70 STR

OR

PRO YANK 3600 EXTREME 4L60E/4L65E
258mm, Posi Lock-Up Clutch w/Kevlar Linings, 6 bolt mounting lugs , lightweight billet cover, 3600 stall, 2.30 STR

I had Pro TRQ build one custom to my set-up. Car weight, power, tire size, and tranny, gears, and amount of shot!!That way it was just right!!

I run 3.42's and a tightened TCI SSF (34-3600) in my A4 T/A. I had Kevin Winstead at TCI hook me up. I am thinking of dropping to a 3.73 gear with the same convertor. If I don't like the results I will then install the other SSF 3800 that I have to bring the RPMs back up where I want them on the launch as I believe the 3.73's are going to tighten up the launch RPM some. Hope this helps.

Jim C.

PS-It runs 10.97@125 with a soft 1.62 60-ft. time as I am still tuning the progressive controller.

I going to be switching from 3.90's to 3.42's along with switching from my PT4000 to the PY3600. I'll post results once the PT4000 sells and I can get the car back together

Thanks I am interested what I should do??

Those Nitrous converters are $895 and the YankSS4000 that I paid high dollar for, went down quite a bit as Yank lowered all their prices and sell direct now.

Thanks Guys

11.42 was all motor and with my SS3600, with the SS4000 and nitrous I went 11.10 at 125 MPH and didn't even spray out of the hole and it was 89 degrees

I'm running a Yank SS4000E, and it's taken everything I can throw at it, workin great with a 300 shot, will see how she does when I change my nitrous setup and up the jets!
