Default 200 Shot recipe

Due to the recent inquiries into what it takes to run a 200-shot I am posting the following results. Here is what I have found that works for my LS1 -

200 Shot N2O
Started with 20* of timing easing it up to 22* with 0-KR. The timing was pulled from 25* to 20* from 3200-RPM up.-(and 60% on the injectors.) After monitoring the KR I replaced the 20* cells with 21* and then 22*. This was done with 3 gallons of 93 octane and 3 gallons of Sunoco 110 octane for a total 101.5 octane. I shift at roughly 55-5700 RPM depending on weather and track conditions. I hope this helps and please feel free to ask for anything that I didn't include. Also keep in mind that those with larger (Bigger than 221@.050) camshafts may be able to get away with either less octane or more timing depending on tuning abilities, weather, elevation; etc. (I am only 250-ft. ASL.)

So why didn't you just spray a 25 shot and tune it for that, then move to a 50 shot and tune it, 75 & tune, 100 & tune, all the way up to 200? Then you wouldn't really have to guess at your timing.

It's a "torque thing" when it comes to giggle juice ... you wanna stay in that torque band.... I short shift when im on the jug all the time... im sure he shifts higher when he's running n/a (atleast I do)

But I guess I could be wrong

I waasn't guessing at the timing. I pulled the timing down that far and eased into it to see how it would respond (Whether it would pick up any MPH and or KR.). I was quite impressed with the results. Take care.

Jim, sounds like a safe way to get there. I havent tried shifting that early yet, I do have a larger cam, but tried the 6200, like it, went 6000 even better... Once I can get back on a track I will keep playing with the shift rpm.

This may sounds funny but is your cam set at 0 mechanical timing? Would say 4 degree advance ground or set into your cam effect anything?

Yeah, I have to shift that early because I have a "baby" (221@.050)camshaft and it doesn't like the higher rpm while on the gas in relation to ET. Let us know how much it drops if any. This kinda info always makes searches much easier.

To be honest I don't remember how much if any advance or retard is ground into the camshaft if any. It is the Lunati 221@.050. As for the 4* of advance being ground into a camshaft, I would refer you to one of the custom cam grinders for that info. I have my own theories but at this point they are untested on an LS1 and I don't want to spout off stuff that I don't know for fact. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

On short shifting, for me it slows the et down. But, then again I have a broad flat torque curve and a LS6. This year I will be doing a 3 stage for a very linear torque curve, at 3000rpm, 4100rpm and 5100rpm, and a 200shot. I will spray to 6600rpm and shift at 6700rpm. I have run my 200 on 24* timing so far, but not a 1/4 hard pull. I think 24* will be fine because I am adding the n2o in stages and in the higher rpms. Great info though, and very helpful, confirms what I plan on doing.

Could've been like me...hit the dyno and find out the cable wont talk to the PCM for reading/writing only scanning worked... 16* 9.0:1 AFR on a wimpy lil 210 Dry Dats okay, once the TC is replaced will dial it all back in.
