Default dry vs wet test

yeah, i'm at it again. been seeing too many which has a bigger hit dry or wet posts. so, i'll be picking up a dry nozzle from ny-trex. has a .125 orifice through it. it'll be a 100 shot test. so, who wants to see it?

Very interested in the results. How do you plan on keeping a consistant A/F ratio between the two?

what i was planning on doing was do the dry runs first. then, do a baseline jetting run for the wet. if the a/f ratio doesn't match, then jet the wet kit to match the dry kit reading.

Monitor:
AFR
Bottle Pressure
Fuel Pressure
Amount of Nitrous used, just for shitz-n-giggles

I will throw out this, wet will make more torque, which in turn will "hit" harder.

I think this will be like the last test. If you want 100rwhp at such an a/f on your wet or dry, then jet/tune it that way, a very simple concept which you have allready proved.
Now on the torque, will be about the same. however, depending on how the dry is set up, the wet torque peak may come on a little sooner. Basic knowledge should tell us that a certain amount of n2o at the same a/f, and other parameters the same, wet or dry will produce very similar if not identical results, concerning torque/power and volumetric eff.
This test will be harder to do than the nozzles test. Where do you plan on mounting, and how far from maf for dry nozzle? Placement will be a factor in choosing a straight shooter, a 45% or a 90* nozzle. The best results I have had is a 90* about 3-5inches from MAF, this concerning dialing in your targeted a/f.
Good luck

from what i've read, placement is critical in getting the dry kit to work at it's best. this nozzle is a 70* angle shot. my plan was to put it in the side of the airlid far enough away so the nitrous is directed at the airlid neck.

this is just to finally squash all the guessing of the theories of dry vs wet.
which one makes more given same nitrous jet?
which one 'hit's' harder?
which one makes more torque given same hp rating?
see if we can produce the 'dreaded' lean spike.

It should be placed in the neck about 3 or 4 inches from MAF, and a 90* works the best. the problem with the air box location is the fact that'll it tend to run lean and then you have no way to tune it. Meaning, in the neck location, likely you'll start rich with a 90* pointed right at the maf, but then you just start turning the nozzle slightly and dial in prefered a/f. So, closer is better for tuning purposes, and farther away is no tuning opitions, your stuck with going into the computer to compansate.

Exactly.

But its still fun reading those threads "my XXX brand wet kit w/ 100 jets made 100 rwhp, while my crappy ZZZ brand dry kit only made 85 rwhp on 100 jets. Thanks XXX!!!!"

lol
