I sprayed a lot of bottles through my lt1, and when I pulled it apart later on, the rings/pistons were all fine, and the cross hatch on the cylinders was still visisble, at around 85k miles. I don't think it's that bad on your stock motor if you keep the shot conservative. I ran 90% of the shots @ the 75 and 100 level, then went to 125 and 150 for a couple bottles worth. 150 just felt like it was going to break something because it hit so hard.

I think most people think that it's not worth it to spray if you only do a 75-100 shot, but even such a small shot can make a huge difference. Not to mention, you only have the fill the bottle half as much as if you were going with a 150-200.

I got greedy at the track and upped my 75 shot to a 150-(slowhawk told me not too) I went extra fat on the fuel side but it wasn't enough. I melted 3 plugs and burnt one valve. I did a leakdown test and the bottom end was in perfect condition. I got lucky,I now have a standalone fuelsystem to feed the need

This is why some people need to test on the dyno first with a good tuner! If you go from 75 to 150 even with the safty equip it probally wont matter becouse you can still lean out real bad! I had the same experience on the dyno and my tuner fixed the entire problem but if i just went to the track i would have been screwed!

when I had my S-10 blazer 5 spd....I was racing a 13.9 second RSX type S with a blower and I told my truck before we raced "you better beat this ************ or blow up!"

I was next to him until I missed third gear and nitrous backfired my cold air intake off the MAF, big fireball shot out of the cowl, lit up the RSX rediculous and then my truck started stumbling and running like ****....I thought I'd hurt it horrible, but it was just the MAF sensor needed to be put back on the intake tube and she ran fine the rest of the time I had it. Thats the worst thing that happened to me.

But in my case one bad injector made me think of buying EGT for each port.

One of the spark plug electrodes burned up and fell down into the cylinder. That started a chain reaction which ended up igniting the fuel in the air box witch blew up, that explosion lifted my fuel tank which smacked me in the face. All this happened at about 150mph on two wheels. Now im obsessive compulsive about checking my lines.
on my older 89 gsxr1100 with a 50 shot and 1186 motor i had changed the carbs and was having problems mounting the WOT switch so it was running late and i wanted to head up to the drags so i just jumped out the WOT switch

now on the bikes the way mine was set up was when the nos system was armed it uses the horn as the juice activation switch.....so im in line waiting to go and i see someone that i wanted to get their attention....(can you see where this is going) I think i did too many drugs when i was a kid (54 now) cause I forgot that i had armed the system and hit the horn while i was just sitting there at idle .....

the explosion blew off two of the individial air filters and shot out a fireball out the carbs (all between my legs) now there is two airfilters sitting on the gound, one on fire and the other one just smoldering ...lets just say that i have never jacked out any switches on a nitrous system since then...

how bout 2 within a year:

last year around this time i took it out i was on a TNT 150 shot..ran a supra and felt it die down a little in 3rd, i figured i was just out of N2o and stayed in it (didnt want to lose the race..) i won, but the fuel solinoid stuck on me and i burnt 3 plugs and 1 valve..i beat em on 7cyl though. bottom end was ok so i did heads and cam and switched over to a DP.

2nd, this past October, on the Dyno tuning it for a direct port. first run at 700psi went through the entire run with no issues. decided to let the bottle pressure get up to 1000psi. 2nd run, got into it and around 4k rpms something let go and that was all she wrote. my intake exploded (FAST 90) which shattered my windshield, shot fuel everywhere causing a fuel fire. a couple intake pieces shot through my hood, thats right, through my hood. broke my throttlebody, maf sensor, lid. it was a mess!!
still dont know exactly what caused it but i too am going the supercharger route this time around.
