I have a 98 Z28 and at the time I had stock internals, MTI lid, exhaust, and a hypertech program on the car. I had 100 hp jets in and would spray on anything that came my way. Well one night I decided to bump it up to 150. Well, I took off and was rolling at about 35mph and mashed to the floor and hit the juice. It hit hard for about to seconds and then POOF!! A fireball shot out of my cowl hood back over the window. It scared the **** out of me and I thought that was the end of the Z. When, I pulled over and popped the hood, I discovered it blew my lid off and my smooth bellows, and it fried my K&N air filter. Later on I found out, cylinder #5's spark plug melted down, but it didn't hurt the piston. After all of this, I got a Walbro 255. lol.

I had the bottle on my 00 v6 bird and have blown up a number of filters and intakes. The first time it happens is always nerve racking. I just hooked everything up on my new trans am and had the n2o line pop and shoot nitrous all over the ground and my buddies cobalt ss. I was thankfull i didnt pop underneath the hood.

about 8 years ago had a fuel solenoid stick open and leak fuel into the nozzle on an EFI wet kit on my (at the time) brand new 1998 mustang GT. I used the bottle and then went for a drive. Evidently soemthing went wrong with the fuel solenoid or it had some sort of debris in it. It was the middle of the night, and I noticed the car seemed to be down on power (probably running rich from dumping raw fuel in the intake) and then as I pulled away from a stopsign, shifting into 2nd it blew up in the intake. It wasnt a loud pop or anything, but I knew something went very wrong under the hood. I could see the flames flickering out from under my hood off cars parked along the street. I pulled over and killed it ASAP but the funny thing was, for some ungodly reason, the fuel pump must have somehow sensed a leak and kept pumping fuel even when i turned the key off and it just fueled the developing fire. The fire burnt my car to the ground and totaled it. Thankfully insurance covered the fire but ill never forget that night.

I havent done any research, so I dont know if the 1998 mustangs have something in them that keeps the fuel pump on even with the key off, but as soon as I opened the hood, I could see the nozzle steadily pouring fuel out of it onto my burning composite intake. Needless to say, that is what got me to start playing with dry nitrous kits in the first place, and I dont leave home without an extinguisher now.

We replaced 4 motor's this year due to Nitrous mishaps. Most are due to running too big of a shot without the right fuelling.

OH yeah. My old 98 v6 had a good back fire on rte 140 a couple years back. I pulled over a looked under the hood. I blew the air box striaght off the throttle body. Found out it was due to one of the plug wires being burnt completly in half aginst the exhaust manifold.

At the drag strip I decided to up the jetting for my bike (Yamaha R1) in my haste to get it back together to make one last run I forgot to tighten the last fuel line. about half way down the track the fuel line backed off dumping fuel into the airbox and at the same time leaned out the engine. One of the spark plug electrodes burned up and fell down into the cylinder. That started a chain reaction which ended up igniting the fuel in the air box witch blew up, that explosion lifted my fuel tank which smacked me in the face. All this happened at about 150mph on two wheels. Now im obsessive compulsive about checking my lines.

I ran about 3-4 15lb bottles (150) shot on my cammin, bolt on car. My rings went to ****, and 3 weeks ago today, I trashed a rod bearing and fucked the motor. I had all safety **** with the exception of the fpss. Next year will be a procharged 408ci n2o free!
