Default 109hp gain on a 150 shot?????

I dont get it. How can I only gain 109hp on a 150 hp jeting with my NOS kit. A little info is that it is a wet kit, jetted 65 and 38 which is right at a 150 shot according the the Master Jet list above and I only gained 109 at the wheels off of this setting. Bolt on car, dynoed 340 hp and 355 lb ft on motor and 449 hp with 525 lb ft on nitrous. The usual TR6's gapped at .38 , 3 degrees of timing pulled with timing tuner and activation at 3250 and cutting off at 6000 and bottle pressure was at 925psi. These are the only things that i would think could have something to do with it but everything seems to be operating perfectly except power is way down!!! We even logged it with EFI Live and everything is in order. Someone help me out here.

What did the air/fuel look like on the bottle runs? The jet list can sometimes come up really fat and that will kill it. I like a lil more bottle pressure also, say around 1050.

Its common for that to happen. Try activating the nitrous later in the RPM's , that might get you some more max power. Also go down to a 32 jet for the fuel. I am at 62/32 and I am 1 point richer on spray than I am NA. Also take bottle PSi up to 1100, 925 is way to low.

A/f was about 11.5-11.7 so that is pretty safe without being excessivly rich, i thought anyway. The Initial hit is not where I am seeing max power.

I know your not seeing the most power on the initial hit, but you will see max torque on the initial hit. Make that torque later and it wont drop off as much later in the RPM's. Look at your graph and youll see what I mean.

I always was told to Run the NOS wet kit at between 900 and 950psi to achieve the rated power level of the jets. Is that not factual information? Maybe I have been wrong all along. I guess i just dont see me gaining 40 wheel with upping the bottle pressure by 75-100 psi from 925 and activation at a later RPM. Is the Fuel jet to big in my case and do you guys think 11.5 is too rich?

NOS rates their jets at 950psi, and upping presure will lean you out. Depending on which jet list your using it may be for crank rating. Some of the newer NOS kits are being rated at the rear. Call NOS and find out, for sure. Just randomly doing this or that, well... Look for member srsnow, for NOS facts, or just pm him.

I stand corrected on the bottle PSI then. Didnt know NOS was designed that low.

I actually used the master jet list from above when selecting the jet sizes and it says that its RWHP jet ratings for the NOS kit....but maybe not??? Do you think my A/F of 11.5 is to rich?

Bottle pressure was low. I prefer 1050psi.

11.5 is plenty rich for a 150 shot, you can go a bit leaner to like 12.0 if you want to try to pick up power, although I really dont think it will make a difference.

What NOS kit do you have? I am looking at a NOS manual and it says for a 150 BHP shot to use 77/53 jetting for kit 5151

The plate kit manual does not show a jetting for 150 shot, the highest it has is 135 HP, 65/42 jetting, although in the description of the kit it says it goes to 150 the settings arent in the manual though.

Actually, I thought it was the plate system. I bought the kit used off of a roomates car. I talked to him and he said that it is just a basic NOS universal V8 kit and he bought the NOS LS1 plate at a later date. So should I go off the jetting for the 5131 NOS kit (the universal one, not the plate system)or off the jetting for the plate system??? My current jets are for a 125 shot according to the manual for the universal kit. But according to NOS manual for the LS1 plate kit, my jets are for a 150 shot? Im a little confused on the whole situation.

Call NOS tech, they actually have a good tech support system these days. I would say use the jetting for the plate kit, however, you need to speak to someone who knows both kits for an issue posssibly that we don't know about. good luck and let us know when you get it sorted out, what it was.
