i'd agree w/ the hustling part, but not the cool factor.

brake boosting and your car sounding like a damn jet engine is much cooler

best of both worlds.

Everyone using 250 400 shot how many pounds per run including the purge do u consume, ok ok even the 200 guys could chime in.
Ok some of you make good points, but what about streetability. 4500+ stalls, deep gears, dosent seem very streetable.
How about you guys posting some of your 9sec combos ( stall, cam, gear, cid, MPG)

Go ahead and convert. Using the LS1 as a basis for comparison. its not too difficult to get into the high 600 low 700 rwhp range with nitrous reliably..for VERY LITLLE MONEY.

Go ahead and convert to a turbo kit making that same HP or more and come back in a few years when its half done and you are broke and selling your car

IMO if you have the cash..and LOTS of it...and you are building an automatic track car...turbo is it.

Street cars that are shooting for daily drivable, being competitive, not spending alot, mid range HP level, ( I consider midrange 500-700 rwhp) IMO there is no comparison to nitrous. That description fits about 90% of the peaople in the street driven market.

Everyone has thier reasons for wantng to go fast and what the best way to get there is....but most dont have a clue what it takes to go turbo and go fast.

The DNF (did not finish) rate for good turbo builds that exceed the capabilities of nitrous is probably more than 50%.

I just don't understand what it is that you are trying to say... Maybe try to re-phrase it.

No kidding!! I don't know where everyone else is filling their bottles, but I only pay $28 for a 10lb bottle! That's a lot of spraying before I get to $800, not to mention the approx. $10k to go FI.

im in the process of changing over from nitrous to FI (ati) for the following reasons

1)tired of getting the bottle filled...over a long period time, say 3-4 years, you'll have just as much into a nitrous kit and bottle fills as it will cost you to go FI.

2)low bottle pressure equals a loss...either on the street or at the track. racing a 550rwhp nitrous car against a 550rwhp FI isnt allways fair....FI car will allways win on the top end due to the fact of bottle pressure...see reason #1.

3) allways having to diagnos when something stops workin...fuel pressure solenoid/nitrous solenoid not coming on.

reason im changin over..

1) power is there...whereever, whenever.
2) im not worried about being stealthy...im not in it to try and make money
3) the power is there period!!
4) a purge is kool....but a whine is even better...

this is just my opinion of course.

"the guy that started this thread says its not worth it to buy a nitrous"
You forgot the question mark. It was a question not a statement!
Infact I honestly think it was an excellent question. One that deserves attention. If this thread gets good answers then newbies that wanted to go the bottle route would have some more info go by.

$28 per refill that would make sense but not for $80 a bottle and a 10# min.
How many safe runs can you get if you spray 300-350 per bottle?
600hp H/A motor plus 350 shot to break into the 8's, how economical can that be? You wouldnt be able to drive 1000miles with that combo.

860, the car in the sig is the car I'm building. What did it take to make it go 9:70 @140+mph?

I made 500 rwhp na and shot ~ 350 SHOT and went 8's drove it home no problem .FI is a good way to make power but the associated coast are 3 to 4 times that of a n20 car. BTW a tight convertor low geared n20 car drives nice.
