Default car cheated death today...

well come of you know i took the car to nlp for a dyno session mostly to check the a/f and see if its all good. well we took it there, and my car made 300rwhp and 315rwtq. not bad as his car is known for being conservative, but numbers are just numbers

next we take a nitrous hit on the car, dynotune 125 wet, made 405rwhp and 450rwtq. no bad not bad, until we bring up the a/f, 15:1 OMFG!!! well we decide to drop in a larger fuel jet...same numbers, and 16:1 A/F on nitrous. well i called it a day after that and took it home. i try to figure out what isnt working, and checked first to see if the fuel solonoid is working...ding ding ding. fuel solonoid gone bad. i tested it and no fuel whatso ever shot out, so in essence, i was hitting my motor with a dry 125 shot behind the maf...

what really suprised me was there was no detonation and only 1-2* knock retard in the midrange showing up, wierd. gotta get me a new noid

on a side note, id like to thank mike for helping me out trying to figure out what happened, spent a good 2 hours there and still only charged me for 3 dyno pulls, but now i have a leaky nitrous bottle and a busted fuel solonoid. tear.....

There was another post in here recently where someone dynoed their car and had real lean A/F ratios. The problem was a bad solenoid also.
Anyway Its good to see that our motors can handle it without blowing up though I don't want to test it.

Well this is not a Dyno Tune issue, but rather a wet issue, as all brands have this problem. Just think if you would not have dyno'ed, would have blown at some point in time. Many times when this happens there is no real tale-tale sign until disaster. Glad you found it before problems occured.
This can cause the dreaded intake backfire. Another alternative rather than buying a new kit might be to convert to dry and use existing parts in full?

lol i remember when I just started modding my car. one of my friends said it wouldn't make over 500. Well i just pulled the pill out of the dry kit and let it rip on the dyno. lets just say it was 18:1 the highest it would read. It made 510/565. Made two passes like that and just switched to a wet kit a couple months later. It never did hurt anything.

Drop us an email or PM or call and we will help you out. If I remember you have had your kit for while - most likely your fuel solonoid was effected by additives or methanol in the fuel. We and I think NX have a new material in our fuel solonoid to eliminate this issue - if thats the cause - sometimes it something that got in the line but we can help you out either way!

It is always good to periodically inspect your solonoids.

you could use your existing nozzle now. just cap off the fuel end and move it to the airlid.

Yeah, that sucks. Just think of how much worse it could have been though.

ya its why im getting the kit off untill i can afford a broken motor. it sucks, but being responsible doesnt suck as much as forking out the cash for a new bottom end and/or top end
