Default Can I really start spraying for $349.99?

So I've been browsing the nitrous forum for the past few days and have been really getting worked up on spraying.

sometime this week I got called out at work ( https://ls1tech.com/forums/street-racing-kill-stories/701524-k20-vs-ls1.html ) and saw that you can safely spray a 100 shot on a pretty much stock motor.

Then I saw one of the sponsors here has a basic kit for $349. I know I'd have to change out my tr55s to tr6s. Can I really get away with my stock injectors and stock tune with my pretty much stock engine?

I figure I'd have to spend a little more for the fuel press. switch and window switch. No one in my town that sprays seems to have any trouble not running a bottle heater so that can wait.

Is there anything else I missed?

Also, if I spray above 3000 would I have to worry much about my rearend?

I have spent 1500 on mine so far, and I need to get 150 more before it's completed...

In my opinion, you can do it cheap, but to do it right is a different story.

I went Harris Speed Works all the way. Yes you can get the kit but having the saftey devices gives peace of mind. You can do it nicely for under 700 bux sans a heater.

+1 my set-up turned out to be alot more expensive but I really don't like half doing things...

There are lots of people who bolt on a basic kit and spray it with no problems though. If you have a second daily driver I would say buy a basic kit, add a window switch, fuel pressure safety switch and get a tune. That should keep you pretty safe at 150hp and below....ofcourse some people spray thehell out of their daily drivers...different strokes I guess...

Dry kits are cheaper than wet kits and at your power level the stock injectors should be just fine up to a safe 125hp shot, some people have trouble with a dry 150 and some don't.

EDIT: After reading the other article the shot would probably beat him but i wouldn't want to rush things just for a race...

I think it takes about $700-800 to spray safely. But then there are still a few other things that might be needed. Before you know it you've spent over $1k

I've spent about $900 for a dynotune wet system, some accessories and the safety equipment for some peace of mind.

getting close to 3 grand here in order to spray this bitch.. i would personally NEVER just install a nitrous kit and spray it.. in order to be as safe as possible your going to need gauges, especially a wideband which costs anywhere from 300-400$. window switch, heater etc.. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

well aside from all the safety stuff that "makes you feel better" ive been spraying on many cars and have never had a fpss or window switch. i have a 150shot hsw kit on my car now with a purge and bottle warmer, no problems and thats all ive had on my other cars for the past 6 years. just know what the car can handle and dont be scared.

im sorry, but for a 100 shot like the threadstarter will probably do, there is no way he should spend near a grand. Now sure, I agree that if you are building a car specifically for nitrous and are running a 200+ shot, wet/dry combo/ progressive controllers etc... then yes it can get expensive. But for a basic street car that wants to have a little fun with a 100 extra whp then that is just not needed. you dont need to tune a 100 shot on a STOCK motor(having a cam or other stuff on there is a different story) you dont need injectors, no wideband. You can do it for pretty cheap is all you want is a kit that sprays safely with safety measures.

The more you know about it = the less you think you need.
The less you think you need = The more relaxed you are about it
The more you're relaxed about it = The less attention you pay to it
The less attention you pay to it = The bigger chance for disaster.

get the safety stuff. As outlined above, it isn't too expensive.
