nitrous will not affect a cam unless you start using large shots. with the ms4 it wont hurt it with 150. but any other shot that is bigger than that i would get a different cam

You basically just posted two useless facts about a camshaft when it comes to nitrous. How about the rest of the profile? Lobe seperation, int. centerline, etc........

Unless you have a dedicated race car and NHRA bound, then choose the cam that fits your n/a needs the most. IMO, going over a 300 shot area is when we should think about a dedicated nitrous cam, or before if full race car.

Robert that still didn't really answer my question. I run a ms4 w/ 300 shot. I won't say I have a dedicated race car but not far from it now, it's pretty much a race car with tags on it that I cruise around it once and a while. I'm shooting for 8's this year so I parked my car so I work on it and get it safe. But other than that still a street driven car when I what to. When you say nitrous cam why? just about every article i've read didn't show much if any gain from it. But that doesn't mean they're right.

Generally, a cam with more exhaust duration than intake duration will be a nice nitrous cam.

Well there are better nitrous cams than the MS4, it is a designed n/a cam. What a dedicated cam can do is allow the amount of nitrous you plan on using to become more efficent, meaning total hp with 300 jets, and resulting HP using the MS4, would be less than using the same jets and a nitrous cam. My choice for a 300 shot, and remember mine is a true street/strip car, is a nitrous friendly 228/232 578/587 and 112/108, and as joblo stated it's more friendly on the exhaust side. We need this because with extra oxy in the n2o and the added fuel in the same clyinder volume compared to n/a, we end up with much more exhaust gas to get rid of. Now what happens on these big shots when the exhaust side is not nitrous friendly, mucho additional heat, and we know what heat will do at these extreme clyinder pressures. Imo, if I was shoting for 8's, a dedicated nitrous cam would be in order, as you'll not have to use as much nitrous or rather your curves will be much more efficent. Now there are some real good cams guys on our site, some real experts, which I am sure can explain things in a little more clear way, but this is the jist of it all.
