Default Metal Intake Manifold and Purge

Can you use the purge to spray down a metal intake to cool it off to improve IAT when not spraying nitrous, or should the purge only be used to vent out of the vehicle?

Just a quick question that popped into my head.

Does anyone else have anything to say about this? Has it been done, is it worth it? I know a few people that have nitrous spraying down their intercooler to chill that down, if the heat soak issue is such a problem with metal intakes can all of this be avoided with a similar setup purging the system on it?

not a cheep way to do it, but i dont see what it wouldnt work. a quick blast wont do anything, but constant purgew maybe.
but at that point, put it into the intake and call it a day

The main reason for me asking the question is the fact that I would like to hide the purge, granted I have a bottle sitting between the seats but you can't really see that sitting next to someone at a light. If I could have an actual use for a quick burst instead of just venting it I'd like to be able to do it.

you can purge under the hood without a problem... but there are two things you're forgetting...

1.. purging is LOUD... like, hear it over your exhaust during a burnout with the stereo turned up loud.

2... unless you purge longer then just a few seconds, you wont be pushing enough gas to cool anything.

Oh well, it was worth a try. Guess it would be a little pointless to put a silencer on a 1000psi line too.

no, you can... some of us have....

but when you do, you dissipate it a bit slower.. and its not very cold at all.

Can I use a standard pneumatic silencer like what I'm running on my airride or do I need something else. I don't deal with pressures over 300psi normally in my day to day life so I don't know what I can and cannot use as far as fittings and such.

A silencer is going to give room for the gas to expand and drop that pressure. The nitrous is liquid. When you drop the pressure its gonna go to gas absorbing heat in the process. You are going to cool off the silencer not the intake that way

We established that cooling the intake with the purge is futile so now i'm trying to find a way to shut it up.
