i usually just keep a bottle in the car and hooked up...one with compressed air that way if if im out cruisin around i can still purge it if people are checkin out a honda or whatnot...never been hassled about it...but here in OK i think its illegal to have a system with the bottle open...never really checked into it

not really sure why there is a law about nitrous....its a power adder...turbo's and superchargers are a power adder too...dont think there are laws against them

In my neck of the woods, South east Tx.I have talked to several city patrolmen, three county sheriff, three TEXAS DPS and all say no laws on the books in texas about nos in any shape, and all say they do not care if bottle charged but they may think you are looking to get into trouble,if you are loaded/charged

just say that it is a purge only kit or that its co2, that might work for most cops if you actually have a purge kit.

I have the bottle between my rear seats and keep a wrinkled jacket on it. You cant tell that there is a bottle under it. I never had anybody question me about it. You would think that some one would question why I had a jacket in my car in the Florida summer heat. I guess they just think Im a slob!

im pretty sure that in pa, nitrous is ILLEGAL to have in the car, even if you dont have the bottle in. technically you arent able to pass inspection if they see it on the car.

from what i have heard, as long as the bottle isnt hooked up, cops wont give you trouble for it.

i think it's considered functional if the line is hooked up in virginia, but if it's not hooked up, i don't see how that would be considered functional, makes no sense....i know the fine is 300 bucks for having it...

I am curious about Illinois Law as well. I have been pulled over a few times for stupid things and every one of the officers seen both bottles sitting in the back of my car with the lines attached. Never said a word about being Illegal.

I've never looked up the law in Texas, but I'm sure IF nitrous comes with some rules, they are only enforced as an excuse to pull you over and look for something else. Kind of like the front license plate law. Anyway, if you don't act like a fool, there's no reason to pull you over and see the nitrous bottle.

Absolutely incorrect for Florida.

There is no direct law that states nitrous in cars is illegal. The only laws on the books about nitrous are when dealing with a controlled substance. Since it's Nytrous+ and not med grade, that does not apply.

The law can be stretched to say it's illegal to use on the street, since you would have to be WOT and 'racing', so you'd get hit with 316.191 (racing on highway)

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead but I have a question in regards to Nitrous being illegal. I have been told that it is illegal to have a Nitrous system installed in a car in Hawaii. My questions is will they fail me taking the emissions test for having a nitrous system installed even if there are no bottles in the Car? Will they fail me after looking under the hood and seeing there is a nitrous system? Can someone send me a link for the Hawaii law regarding nitrous systems? Thanks in advance.

its like this! put the damn nitrous in your car no matter where you live and put the bottle where its supposed to go! in the back or spare tire area and not out in the open trying to show it off! most cops if you give them respect wont give you any problems about car mods..... and if one says anything about it tell them you drag race the car at the drag strip and be done with it!
