Default bottle mounting question

Has anyone ever mounted their bottle in the rear hatch area? I wanted to mount mine like the picture shows, but im worried about how close the gas tank is to the mounting surface. the screws im using are only about a half inch long, if that, but does anyone know how close the gas tank really is to the mounting surface in the hatch????

I have a door cut for my fuel pump and I just went and took it off to measure and it is actually touching in alot of places. I wouldnt try to mount the bottle there unless I had the fuel tank out but I have seen them mounted there.

I went back out and tried to get some pics for you but its too dark. You may could do it as long as you stay close to the the back seat. The tank sinks down for some lines that go in right there. Theres about 1 and a half or inches of clearance right there but the lines run pretty close to the body.

You can weld either a bolt and use it as a stud on the surface above the gas tank or even a nut which is what I did to mount my bottle like the pic below. It was too much of a hassle to bolt it because of space limitations so I just welded 4 nuts and called it a day.

i actually read somewhere that a guy used a peice of ply wood under the carpet, and drilled into that, and i went to the garage, found a perfect peice to use, slid it under, drilled it, and it came out perfect.

Be careful not to leave your bottle in the car in that position on hot days...your pressure will shoot through the roof! Then your motor goes KABOOM if you aren't careful and you lean that sucker out.

Always check your pressure, ESPECIALLY when it is exposed to direct sunlight through glass.
Goodluck!
