Default Robert Inquiring Minds want to know?

About a month ago I know you had a backfire taking out the intake. Since your car has been down so long and you have shown no action with it and some post here and there insinuate that you may have blown it up. I have to ask. Did you blow up your new motor?

If so what was the cause?

Dave

Yes you can have a backfire with a wet or dry system. I have seen backfires from both.

The wet kits usualy are alittle more violant due to the extra fuel vapors in the intake.

Me too. He is one of the guys that talked me into going dry from all of his posts about not having backfires with dry kits. I still have the kit sitting in my garage now though lol.

Nothing against the burst plates but I have seen some fast intakes blown to shreads and they had the burst plate. So I am not real sure about them. However I have a buddy that has a burst plate on his blown altered and I know it works.lol

We all know Robert and I have argued on if dry kits have backfires or not. I knew they did from past experiences..lol Now Robert does as well.

Someone blowing up there motor is never funny. I have blown up many of my own and walked away heart broken. My post was not intended to poke at Robert so anyone reading this or posting here please do not turn it into that.

I just want to know what happen and how? So I figured I would ask. And since he did not respond to my last pm I just asked him in public.

I think his motor is fine, I believe it was his MAF and TB that suffered a bit. Kinda of incentive to keep spare parts around (I am gathering all kinds of spares with the mods), and realize if your gonna play be ready to pay!

I dont think his argument was that dry kits never backfire. He was saying that dry nitrous backfires are not as violent as wet kit backfires, which is true. Also that he has never seen a car burn to the ground due to a dry nitrous backfire, as has been the case with some wet backfires.

Actually not that this post is ment for this discussion but there are tons of post from Robert Claiming Dry Kits do not have backfires.. I have always argued they do but they are not as violant as a wet backfire..

Keep in mind that even a dry backfire could have the potential of burning a car down in the event it was violant enough to pop the fuel line or fuel rail off the intake as well.

Just so happens the few cars I have seen here on the internet that did burn down was from something the user did wrong. Also the ones I have seen posted were running a wet system. Maybe because the explosion is more violant(fact) or maybe because there are a greater number of people running wet systems.
