Default Intake choice help please.

I have a question that everybody has a different answer to when doing a search. I am finally getting around to installing my nitrous (1 harris dry and 1 harris wet plate system). I will also be adding 42# injectors. I am thinking of going with a weiand or bbk intake just incase it backfires i feel it is safer. Am i really doing the right thing? PLEASE only respond if you have experience or knowledge in what i am asking info for. I am not trying to start a plastic versus aluminum thread, just trying to determine wich to order. Thanks to all who help.

I would just get a LS6 or if you are really worried about a back-fire get a FAST with the burst panels.

I've got a Fast with the burst panels on my car now. I'm really not all that sure how well they are going to work. Most of the reading I've done on them a lot of people are saying that their intakes still blew apart. If you went aluminum you probably won't have to worry too much about it blowing apart like the plastic. I'm pretty sure that throttle body will bend. At least those were my thoughts when I made my decision.

I have seen plenty of FAST intakes with burst discs....Burst. I went with a ported Vic jr. for that exact reason on my own personal car. i would HATE to spend a 1000+ on a fast just to watch it pop. Sure i would expect other damage, but at least i wont be out on a very expensive piece.

I dont have any personal experience with those two intakes, but as far as i know there isnt any room for porting and i dont think they flow all that well as it is. If i had to pic one i would say the bbk.

the burst disks are about as usless as **** on a bull. they will do nothing against a back fire.ive seen a back fire with the disks and the funny thing is the intake was in pieces all over the place and the 2 disks still in the same spot. lol

Great setup your going with there. Like Mike, I chose the Vic Jr, and yes the back fire and resulting burn to the ground is a reality for sure. One that we will not chance, as have seen this to many times. Also, I have had a LS6 intake blow apart from a back fire. Good thing it was a dry hit, cause if it was wet it surely would have been worse. It's them damn fuel rails leaving the injectors and spraying fuel all over, no way. Weiand or BBK, I think it really boils down to witch you like better as I doubt there really is much difference in performance. Though, giving the single plane some thought might be worth while. Check out a couple current threads where some pics and info on the Vic Jr can be had.

Search up on summitracing, they have them on there for sure. Also check with speed inc like noyzee said.

I also had mine ported as well. They flow fairly well right out of the box, but leave pently of room for porting. The intake elbow is a curcial piece if you plan on sticking with a MAF. Intake Elbows.com has one of the nicer and less restrictive elbows out there.

I TTT the DP on a GM Carb thread. Many good intake pics and maybe some more insight. Ask over in the engine sections, who carries this intake.
