Default hsw interface tuning help

Ok guys have a few questions. I have a completely stock 1998 ls1 with 4l60e I have it in a 94 rx7. I am installing a hsw dry kit with there interface and a Harlan window switch. I have put in new plugs and wires. It has upgraded fuel pumps “dual”. I went with the ngk tr6 plugs and Borg Warner wires. I am trying to get away with not tuning the motor for a while. Funds are short. I also have a plx wideband. No my question is can someone give me the safest way to set up the interface for a 100 shot maybe a 120 shot. Or should I not even try to spray without a tune? The motor has great compression and is running tops. I just installed some nitto 555r’s and I want to go the strip. I just want to be able to spray there when I go. The car had a single turbo rotary that went in the high 11’s. I want to go there and not be to mad that I switched over to v8 and the auto. I have been reading the motor should be able to push it into the low 12’s so the 100 shot should be hella fun… The car should be in the 2700lbs.

dont spray it untill you get it on the dyno to see where your a/f is. that and/or a wideband is really the only way to set up the interface safely. DO NOT cheap out on a tune, if ya cant afford it right now, wait till ya can....it'll cost you 10x as much in the end if you dont tune it, trust me.

Start with a 50 shot, use your WB to see what you need to do with the interface. Your trying to keep the AFR between 10 and 12 on spray, mid 11's to upper 11's on spray if possible. If your under 12 AFR on Spray with the 50 shot, bump the shot up to a 75 then so on, adjusting the interface as needed for the upped shot. Give Matt a call at HSW if your not sure how to setup the interface.

You need a tune to figure out your A/F ratio AND set your timing. If either is off, you will blow it up.

I have a plx wideband. I thought that you could set the timing wiith the interface. i am not trying to be short or anything. I just see alot of people runing a 100 shot with no tune at all. I understand that this is kinda stupid. I was just under the inpression with the interface that the system could be installed and ran without a tune. Once again i do have a PLX WIDEBAND.

Thanks for the help!!!

The interface can adjust the timing values, but is not a substitute for a tune. Generally, the rule of thumb is 1.5-2 degrees per 50 hp.

does it still have the stock tune? if so then it should be able to hit it with a 75 and up shot- just make sure you follow thru with the directions for pulling the timing from the interface.

Guys are running 150 shots on stock tune with the interface by pulling the timing and adding fuel.

Stock tune, I did not have to pull any timing until above 100.
50-100 I was ok
125-175 we pulled a total of 3°
