Default Plug gap?

I am going to have my car dyno tuned tomorrow and want to know what size gap I should run. The engine is an lme 408 with 12.1 compression and I will be spraying a 100 and 150 shot. I have the ngk # 10 plugs. Also do you guys think it is alright to spray it with only 250 miles on it?

Normal plug gap for nitrous applications of that shot are about .035 to .040. I am not sure what the #10 plugs are but if they are TR6's then you have the correct ones. In regards to the 250 miles, isn't normal recommended break-in 500 miles with slower to normal driving?

the #10 plugs may be a bit over kill but usually you want to wait till 500 miles to spray on a new motor. I would at least use the #7 or higher plug though.

The #7 plugs have a bit different design than the #6 better for the jug. With your compression you may need a slightly higher plug

As far as gap goes I don't know so I am not going to make a recommendation on something I don't know.

I set my TR6's at .035.

.024 would be my gap of choice for those plugs and that compression.

Yes, spraying it with 250 miles is good. If the rings aren't seated by now, then the nitrous and cylinder pressure sure will seat them and the HP numbers will be more steady and repeatable.

do not listen to this guy. 10s are fine to start out with and especially with 12:1 compression!

If you find out they are too cold which I doubt you will you can always step back to a ngk 9.

500 miles before spraying?

Or just run the motor to get all the assembly lube out, change the oil, and go spray the world at it. You break a motor in based on how you'll be running it.

Well the NGK 7's would probably be ok for him to run N/A. if he plans to run a plug for the street and track/ spray he need to go to a higher plug. How did I give him bad advise?

Good luck and let us know the results sounds like a good set up.
