Do you leave bottle in the car all the time?
I just got my nitrous bottle filled the other day and had it in the back seat. I guess it got kind of hot outside today, 90's here in Houston. I get in my car after work to find little pieces of a Home depot ad confettied all over my interior. Took me a few seconds to figure out what happened. Is it not a good idea to leave the bottle in the car during summer? I put the Nhra blow down tube fitting and burst disc on the bottle and used a torque wrench to tighten it to 15lbs. Will bottle pressure exceed 3000psi if left in a hot car all day?

Yes, pressure can exceed 3000psi if it's hot enough with the sun beating down on it. I take it out now because my burst disc popped and I lost 9lbs of nitrous. It was sitting in my car for three days straight during the summer.

Thanks for all your help. Looks like it is about 50 50. Maybe I will try a blanket next time I get the bottle filled, because like one guy posted I want my bottle in the car ready to go at all times.

where are you mounting it? transmission tunnel or in the spare tire well? I was planning on leaving mine in 24/7 but like robert I live in the greater seattle area and it doesn't get that hot here (80 maybe 90 if we're lucky during the summer). I'm still debating on mounting location though, thinkin spare tire area or the package tray as we have dogs that like to go on car rides and the bottle would be in the way on the trans hump.

You live in Texas, it EASILY gets hot enough there to burst a burst valve, ESPECIALLY if you leave in in direct sunlight.....Taking it out of direct sunlight *may* do the trick, but I know here in MS I left a case of canned cokes in my t-top holder....all but 6 exploded, and I had coke from the back to the defroster vents on the front....and they were out of direct sunlight.

^^^^^^^^^^^^
now that bottle is ready to be used... LOL
I leave mine in the car all the time. It is garaged most of the time.
Also at work we have a garage also, so its not sitting in the sun all day.

Wow that's scary. I keep mine in the trunk and it has never reached over 1100 PSI even on the hottest of days. This is in my GT though(real trunk vs. F-Body hatch).

+1 for being in the car all the time, however like others mentioned mine's always parked out of direct sunlight. When I have it out though I've never seen it rise over 1200 after several hours of Florida sun......wouldn't leave it out though for all the reasons mentioned in posts above.
