Default How many of you run race gas when you're going to use the nitrous?

I realize I could buy a timing tuner or whatever for my car, but if I want to spray a 100 shot on my 01 Z06 and keep my N/A tune then I could just run some race gas so I don't have to pull any timing correct? That's the only way I've ever done it in my previous cars because the nitrous with good gas allowed for me to not have to pull any timing from the motor tune. If this is the case why aren't more people doing it that way?

I use to go this way.. Just putting race gas in for spraying.. It works...
But after I tuned the car. I can spray 150 on 93 no problems.....
I have lost a little N/A, but not enough to worry about it..

But the race fuel for spraying works...

And most people dont do it that way because you lose the benefit of having it tuned for that shot of juice...

Seems all you'd need to do is pull a few plugs to see if you're running enough octane for the timing?

I check the plugs after each race session I do... you can read the plugs to get an idea of what is going on.... But if you are leaning out.. most of the time I can tell from the way it feels, and the pinging you hear.. LOL

You can just throw the Torco fuel additive in. That is easy to carry and will give you the bump you need for a 100 shot

Yeah that was my intentions, I've got 4-5 bottles of it left from my 03 Cobra.

If your going to run dry then add on the HSW Interface. It's tied into the IAT sensor and can pull timing w/ flip of a switch (or 2). No need to burn the good stuff and doesn't mess w/ the NA tune.

I'll look into that, but I was planning on a wet plate kit between the TB and intake.

if you're smart you'll go dedicated with a timing tuner. Then you need never worry about octane, pulling timing, etc etc. and you maximize the power / no worry of knock for na and nitrous.

this is how i'll be doing it. I dont like to fuss with how much pump gas or how much race gas is in my tank, blah blah blah this and that. just fill the tank and go.

Check out their dry TB plate kit, comes w/ interface. No worries w/ fuel in the intake

Might as well start a war too, dry hits harder

j/k, don't want to start that whole discussion up again.

Just use EFI Live and COS#5, you can flip a switch and run N/A or N2O.

VP sells fuels in many different sizes. I've got a 55 gal drum of 109 unleaded just for that reason.

I'm only running an NX150 shot, and I always use the 100 octane unleaded race gas, preferably Sunoco GT 100.

The gas station down the street has 102 at the pump. I always run that fuel to be safe. I have a two stage nozzle setup putting down about 725rwhp in my vette.

93 - 106 octane in the tank for normal N/A racing. ( depends on the mood i'm in )

108 - 110 octane intank when using nitrous with C16 in the dedicated.
