Number 6 plug melted?
Number 6 plug melted? My car had a slight stumble sometimes up top on motor and I started pulling plugs and found that #6 plug was burned up like electrode melted the rest of the plugs were fine. I was thinking it could of been the injector but I took it WOT then keyed the car off and pulled the plug and it looked normal. Were thinking the electrode could of been alittle brittle and eventaully snapped. These are 2 steps colder plugs AR94 and they have been in for about 10 months the rest of the plugs looked fine. Im using a wet kit with standalone with 24 degrees and 116 octane in the standalone. Spraying about 160rwhp through a 4l80e stock 10 bolt and 3600 stall unlocked. A/f was in the 10's on the dyno and dipped into the the low 11's up top and that was at the tailpipes. Anyone have any ideas why 1 plug would burn up like that?
I dont have really have a tuner just know people that are smart about a/f and all that and from what ive read rich is fine for the spray im not sure why 1 plug would melt and the rest would be fine. It could of been brittle where I gapped it and eventually broke. The plugs have probably been in for close to a year with quite a few passes on it so who knows how long that one was like that. I was thinking maybe the injector on that cylinder was screwed up but im assuming if it was it would misfire while driving or wot even on the motor. There the stock injectors that came with the car which would be the 28lb'ers and they only have about 52k on them.
The a/f started in the 10's and went into the 11's ive heard that is fine. Maybe you need to do some more research? And if you know so much while why cant you tell me optimal stuff for my setup like what the timing and a/f should be?? Id rather have it rich than lean......
Its hard to say what exactly caused it. But, I went thru ~3 sets of plugs last summer (4 months is a MN summer) alone (over cautious and cheap to replace). I would change/check your plugs more often. Especially with spraying that big of a shot. What did you gap the plugs to?
I do have to agree, I think its a little on the rich side as well. I try to shoot for high 11's to low 12's on the AF table.

it was probably just a fart. a fart in the injector, a fart in the fuel at a split second, a fart in the plug. hard to say for sure. if it looks good with a wot run and shut down, then i would link it to not being an issue.
on the other note. change the plugs more i would say if you do oil every 3k, do your plugs as well. it depends how ofter you spray it and how you drive etc, but for 15 bucks and a half hour just do it.
as for AF to rich is better then to lean, but i would shoot for more mid 11's on AF. but i WOULD NOT depend on just a tail pipe reader, do WOT runs and check plugs as awell. be sure everything is working right. you will be shocked what kind of power gains will come if you car is tuned in more on the edge but still safe.
