Default blow DOWN TUBE what is NHRA legal post up pics of yours

Getting ready to race at a track that does some hefty safty checks. How is your blowdown tube supposed to be to be legal. And post up some pics of yours. Also can you run a rubber hose off your tube and run it out thru a hole in your car?

Don't use rubber hose, 1200+psi is not for rubber. a metal purge line or braided hose would work but I don't think its certified.

Thanks,

I drilled through the cupholder because it is easier to patch up instead a hole in the middle of my carpet.

I'll just super glue a coke can to cover the hole or something.

No picls but ATv's setup is cool. kirkey seat holding the 15 lb bottle with the blow down tube being a braided line going straight down threw the floor threw hole in seat via bulk head fitting nitrous feed line is only 5' long. maybe he can post some pics.

I just made both of mine. -8AN stainless steel line with some -8AN fittings on both ends, then a bulkhead fitting going under the floorboard under the rear seats.

The aluminum tube will pass. If you go to a braided hose it has to be bulkheaded to the floor. No rubber hoses..... Think safety..
We stock all the items to custom build a -8 braided blow down tube.

I have that hose. Had the NOS tube, just looked out of place. This one is a bit cleaner and secures to the floor. In my case it's the tub section on my C5 Corvette, just between the 2 exhaust pipes on the passenger side. The red is actually form a gasket that I put so as not to get any exhaust into the vehicle. It is cleaned up now.

you only need a blowdown tube if the bottle is in the passenger compartment right?

if you have a sealed truck (ie have the back seats still intact) then you shouldnt need one?
or have i been told wrong?

i like the idea of a braided line blowdown tube if i do need one.

I "thought" it had to be a 8, but it may not matter.

I'd just do a -8 so that way there's no potential issue. Plus, if the bottle got up enough so it blows, the bottle is really hot and the nitrous is gonna be coming out really fast, I'd want that to be able to have a quick escape route.

That is correct, if it is sealed off from the passenger compartment you don't need a blowdown.

Remember that when you have a liquid or gas under high pressure and you release the pressure it gets really COLD, not hot. That's why you need a bottle heater
