What year is the C3? My dad has a 75 with the L42 or L48 engine package 170hp stock. We rebuilt the engine a while ago and we are about to put some performer RPM heads it with a RPM intake also. Hopefully it will wake it up quite a bit

Some day I'll get to actually drive the car.

I took the belt off and let it run for a minute or two and no squeal so it's not any of the front driven accessories. I think it might be one of the electric fans for the radiator but I haven't had time to look at it yet. I'll find it sooner or later.

Sounds like a good fight, wish I could have seen it.

Is anyone cruising today? I've been taking the car on small little jaunts around Vancouver. I think it's time to stretch the legs a little bit. Nothing too crazy. I need alot of stop/go driving to break-in the new clutch, and I found the squealing issue so that's gone.

You wanna meet up in Clackamas or something? What was the squealing issue?

The squealing was my own fault. I routed the PCV system wrong or something and the engine was pulling vacuum past the valvecover seals causing the squealing sound. It would only do it part of the time and it was driving me crazy tryng to figure out what it was. It sounded like a bearing going **** up and was loud as hell. Found it by pulling the oil fill cap off and noticed some vacuum pressure when I pulled it off.

You still up for meeting at Clackamas?

I'm off tomorrow, so maybe we could meet up then? Brenda will be at the stables most of the day tomorrow so I'll either be working on the car or driving it. I still need to get the rearend centered up. The torque arm is rubbing the inside of the tunnel a little bit 'cuz i't not quite centered.

The new clutch is doing great so far. Very minimal chatter and it grabs near the floor. Chatter is supposed to dissapear completely when it's broken-in according to others.

Cool, I see on monsters website they are going to make clutches for Fords pretty soon. Maybe when my centerforce is done by next year it will be out and track tested!

If I can get my springs swapped out tomorrow morning them I'm down.

Yes, they are supposed to have a twin disk clutch available for the LSx pretty soon also. They originally developed their clutches for the heavy GTO's and those guys really talk good things about Monster. So far, I'm impressed with the clutch. I just hope it holds up to the launches I intend to put it through this summer.

I'll give you a call tomorrow mid-morning sometime.

Thanks man. I'm getting close to laying down some numbers, both track and dyno. Also looking forward to some cruising this summer.

The car feels strong to me, but like I told Elliot, I haven't driven a fast car since last year when I drove Bobby's 99' SS 454 (before he traded it).

I'll tell ya one thing I have noticed. I've driven quite a few fast LS1's. Some with cam only, others with ported heads/cam, small cams, largish cams but those were all stock cubes. Then,,, with Bobby's 454 LSX and now this 387 with the big bores it's quite different. Driving a car with a large bore size (4.120" +), is unlike any other LS engine I've driven. I really noticed it with Bobby's 454, but this little 387 has the large bores (4.125") also, and you can really feel it when driving the car. It's really hard to describe, but you can almost feel those big pistons moving at idle and when you accelerate,,,,, it's an awesome experience for sure.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my experiences with you guys.

Mike
