A4 to M6 swap
As some of you know I have been lacking a "man" pedal as it is refered to. Well today thanks to a local member, I picked up my complete swap. The anonimous member had everything to do the swap.
I am planning on doing a stage 3 rebuild. I am hoping to begin the install this weekend. Keep in mind it does need a good bath and will be getting it tomorrow, but here are some pictures to tide yall over.

i was thinking of just throwing a car/ pizza thing and seeing who wants to come. Its a pretty simple swap. I m just waiting on the master cylinder and I will have everything. Found a few suppliers for parts but still looking. If this beautiful weather keeps up I will tear it down tomorrow.

I was able to remove the extension housing this evening... I got a mixed surprise when I opened it up. The transmission appears to have been rebuilt. Once I get into it further hopefully some of it has been upgraded. Based on what i have seen so far it needs 2nd gear... i guess we will see...............

Freefallen, sorry I didn't reply to your txt the other day. I've worked eleven 10 hour days with only one day off. If you get stuck on something give me a call, I'm off today and tomorrow and can walk ya through it over the phone. Do you have all the tools for tackling this?
If you shift it to 2nd gear but the input/output shafts spin independently, it probably sheared off the synchro engagement teeth from 2nd gear so you'll need to replace that. More than likely you'll also need a new 1-2 synchro assembly as well because the slider engagement will more than likely be messed up (ie rounded engagement teeth). If I were you, I wouldn't order any parts until it's tore down completley and then get an assesment of the total damage. There could be other issues as well (torn up bearings, chipped/broken driven gears from the debris etc... Hope you didn't pay too much for this trans.

Good News bad news. A guy I go to church with does transmissions so he said he would help and has the tools so that is definetly a blessing. However, after talking to him and Mikey they both think it will be a gear, hub assembly along with the usual... tra la lalalala la la lay luya this tranny is....well never mind. Between him and I we will get it done and as I told Tmoney I just wont shift it over 1500 rmp and will drive in 6th...lol
Any suggestions for a Complete Master cylidner as I will need one.

Ok finished tear down 2nd is completely gone not a single tooth on it. It didnt hurt anything else so that was good. I am going to go with the viper 2nd, kevlar blocker, bronze pads, steel 3-4, going to do the syncros, all new rings and bearings and seals.
I will say that when this is all over having a m6 had better be the best thing ever...

Oh those pictures bring back memories I think I've done 4 or 5 of the A4 to M6 swaps over the years. Pretty easy, one tip take the steering column out I've done it both ways and the 10 minutes it takes to remove the column is well worth it!!!
